From a couple nights ago. It was amazing. Photo does not do justice.

Next time a tripod and manual focus will be part of the routine.

The whole scene happens so fast and you really have to be ready.

YEG towers as as seen from below. 😄 one shot, combining the sun and some architecture.

This refinery has legs. Often called the world’s most travelled refinery, the Strathcona refinery has made its way through hill and valley, war and peace, and through the ebbs and flows of Canada’s oil industry.

When the company discovered oil in Leduc in 1947, Alberta’s oil industry began to happen. The refinery made its way from Whitehorse on barges, trucks, rail and ice-roads to find its final home on the outskirts of Edmonton.

Today, a more modern version of the refinery provides products for Canada and the Northern U.S., and is one of the most safe, reliable and profitable refineries in North America.

Always a bit of a novelty for prairie folk. (me anyway)

Edmonton, CANADÀ 2024

Ice sculpture at the Fort Edmonton Winter Market. Lots of vendors selling everything from cider, French baking, jewelry and Christmas gift ideas. Indoors and outside. Lucky us the weather was a balmy -4!

I've been waiting to shoot this car forever and the time has finally come. I could stare at it for hours to tell you to truth. So beautiful!!!

Just missed the best part of this storm, sort of out of position.

The view out my hotel room window last night in Edmonton. A few minutes later all hell broke loose with torrential rain and crazy winds.

I take this photo every autumn.

We met and fell for this sweet pup this weekend. She spent the day with us yesterday. She was perfectly behaved with the cats, was calm and gentle, really the best dog! So today we apply to adopt her. Our very own Alberta Special.💕

Ben's coyote patrol of Blackmud Creek is over.

YEG at work - Walterdale Bridge being constructed. Still think too bad that they did not leave the "old" bridge for foot/bike crossing. 😮

Operated by Mark Drew (agricultural contractor).

Curls briefly appeared over downtown St Albert and the Sturgeon River that meanders through it.

Lightning strikes south of YEG and Leduc this evening.

Driving around in those Back-lanes (alleys) one finds the most "interesting" stuff ... mainly discarded stuff... who cares? looks like they don't! 😢

more of a "test" shot with the new Viltrox 40mm F2.5

I have 2 other Viltrox lenses and so far they are all good. meaning the Chinese quality control seems to be working. Had a Laowa 9mm with very soft corners even though most people were happy with it. Stay tuned 😄

trying out the 3.2 megapixels Pentax Optio 33WR in YEG. stitched a few shots and noticed if you remove the SD card (in the battery compartment) the whole camera is resetting itself. Hence the 2003 EXIF info. Guessing the image transfer should be done in camera via USB. Annoying, glad I didn't pay $349.95 on 2003 😄

Rocky Mountains on descent into Edmonton

Another one of those Scorpio oddities. Originally photographed for being what I thought was a base model (wheel trims on a Ghia?).

Unloved when first released and still the butt of many jokes today, the 'wide-mouth frog' is destined to do a vanishing act in the near future - I've read a lot of Scorpio engines find their way into sporting Sierras too.
