On the way to dropping off the eye-roller this morning for her first VCE exam (English) she was feeling nervous and sick -as to be expected. I asked her what song she'd like to listen to so we could have it blaring in the car to take her mind off things. She chose Eminem "Not Afraid"
"I'm not afraid (I'm not afraid)
To take a stand (to take a stand)
Everybody (everybody)
Come take my hand come (come take my hand)
We'll walk this road together, through the storm
Whatever weather, cold or warm
Just letting you know that, you're not alone
Holla if you feel like you've been down the same road"
It obviously provided her with the comfort and distraction she needed and before long we were singing at the top of our voices and I was embarrassing her with my rap gesticulations.
Not a great image but I wanted to post it anyway. Taken outside her study window and as always, Harpo has to be in on the action. One of the main reasons we got another dog when we did was because she wanted one to get her through VCE. He has delivered in spades, despite being a madman. He couldn't be any more loving.
I finally updated and framed my map of Rocky Mountain National Park and the 200+ miles of trails that I have hiked. Every year that I hike I am going to update the map- maybe one day I will have actually hiked every trail in the park who knows!

I am having to reinvent how I play just a bit so I won't re-injure my finger, but hopefully soon I will be right back to playing (though maybe not the fast, intricate stuff for a while!)

I love my little Sophie, but she really knows how to lay the sad puppy eyes on pretty thick. I am always cautious with how many treats she gets as her breed is prone to weight and heart issues, but if I could I would spoil her rotten all day.

"Thanksgiving in Canada is celebrated on the second Monday of October each year12. It is an official statutory holiday, except in PEI, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia1. However, federally regulated institutions do observe Thanksgiving in those provinces too. Thanksgiving Day in Canada is linked to the European tradition of harvest festivals"

I have been missing the sound of an acoustic guitar, so I brought Alberta down to my office full-time… it's so nice to have that beautiful acoustic sound!

I grew up studying the lore and culture of American Indians, and I was so very fascinated with everything I read and experienced. It became a lifetime dream to own an artifact from an American Indian tribe, and a few years ago I purchased this arrowhead discovered in the state of Oklahoma close to a battle on the open plains.
At last I am going to property cataloged this item and place it on my office wall- which has become a place of my personal and world treasures!

Today I started the routing for my display cabinet for all of the vials of dirt I have collected on my hiking adventures. Hopefully tomorrow I can get everything glued, screwed and assembled for staining. Then all I have to do in the week is varnish and assemble (it's that easy right?!?)

After the storms parted this morning, I was able to sand all of the projects I have cut and drilled, and then I finished routing all of the drawers for one of the cabinets I am making. The weather has put me back a bit, but I am still plowing ahead as best I can and having the time of my life.

Taken sometime in 1999 with my trusty Pentax P30t, these black and whites make up a collection of photos that were included in my Year 12 (final year at high school) Visual Arts HSC "Major Piece."
The "Major Piece" was your art in any media. I choose photography and ran off into the city one afternoon and took these photo with, if I remember correctly, Ilford 100iso BW film in my Pentax P30t, an old school manual SLR.
These photos are from a set of about 30. From these 30, I choose 15 to be worked into my tryptich.
When I get more time, I'll be scanning more in.
This photo: I found out later that this was part of the filming for Mission Impossible 2. They had blocked off Bent Street and were filming scenes inside one of the buildings here, I think the Governor Phillip Tower

Friday was the last business day of the month, and Monday begins the busy season for my work group. It's hard to believe we are starting to plan for 2021, it's hard to believe we are beginning the performance review period for 2020- because somehow I still feel like I am living in an endless March/April time frame...

I am almost done with my project to build a display case for all of the vials of dirt that I have collected from my many adventures. I am now going through and re-labeling the vials so I can categorize and know were they were from.
One of them was from a campfire that I shared with my father in 2017 when he went camping with me for a few days- great and beautiful memories with him that night.

Embracing an ongoing joke in the exercise community: If you want to make time slwo down or stand still, just do some planks- because 2 minutes seems like 20. There is a lot of truth in this. A LOT….

Today was a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with my parents. We all have a lot to be thankful for this year- so much loss has been experienced this year with people and families close to us. I am so very glad that besides injury and a few issues with my father, we were all still able to sit around a table and have a wonderful meal. My thoughts were on those families who could not say that, and how difficult this year must have been. I feel truly blessed...

One of the reasons I loathe painting and staining is because it produces long periods of waiting. The colder it is, and the more humidity there is in the air- the more I have to wait. Still, patience is a virtue, so I'm trying to stay productive in-between layers of paint or varnish depending on the project.

Last step in my process is to color it in. I always use colored pencils from various brands (some are great, some are absolutely not). I never profess to be an artist, and that shows when it comes to coloring in the objects on my pages- but art is never about perfection.
I will add the original photo that inspired my eye in the comments. If you get a chance check out the photographer's full photo stream- very cool shots with a great eye for photography!

This is my starting point for my studio CD Bookcase project.
The project will create six separate bookcases that will surround the walls, all with doors across the front. They will also be painted (not stained) to match the trim work. This has been a relative dumping ground fort all my guitars and boxes of music, but hopefully by the end of March this will be done, and you will see a great detail of work completed!

It looks like I will be changing travel plans yet again this year. I had to push off my yearly trip to climb mountains, and now it seems like I am going to have to push off a trip to go see a lifetime dream of mine. It's probably for the best, but still hard to swollow.
