Bugünüm senden geçti
Zaman geçmeyecek artık
Ellerim kesik, bedenim hissiz
Yarım kalmış bir cümleyim artık
Yarım bıraktın, yarsız bıraktın beni
Yalnız değil ıssız bıraktın beni
Yarım bıraktın, yarsız bıraktın beni
Yalnız değil ıssız bıraktın beni

Another shot from Thursday's bimble on Dartmoor. Yar Tor is on the opposite side of the road to Corndon Tor and is another easily accessible tor. The gently sloping hill to the top isn't difficult at all and the views are fantastic.
There are a lot of compositions to be had here, but I really liked the shape of these rocks so set my camera up and got a shot. There is a nice lone tree there as well and I think that would look great covered in snow. whether my little Ford Fiesta will make it up there in the winter is a different matter altogether!!

On Yar Tor looking north east (though I think it's actually more easterly, judging by the road below).
So many viewpoints from up here. This one shows a mix of farmland and moorland. Lovely to look at.
I think this has to be one of my favourite tors, but then I have a few favourites - all with their own special characteristics and interesting points.
I've posted shots of this memorial before, but this is a very recent one. I am always drawn to it when I'm doing a walk in that area. The chosen viewpoint, the season of the year, and weather conditions make each shot different. In this shot, you can see Yar Tor, partly in shadow, in the background (left of the picture).
The Cave-Penney Cross is situated on Corndon Down near Yar Tor, high up above Dartmeet on Dartmoor.
It was erected in the memory of a young soldier who was killed in the first world war. His family came from Rogues Roost in Sherwell (aka Sherill) nearby.
The inscription below the cross reads:
"To the glory of God And to the dear memory of Evelyn Anthony Cave-Penney Lieut. Q.V.O. Corps of Guides Fell in Palestine whilst Gallantly commanding his men June 8th 1918, aged 19
Look up and lift up your heads."
I have spotted this more than once, i snapped it back in 2013 and it looked just as good as it did then. Only a little rust starting to appear on the rear wing. Obviously a caring owner. Current owner has had it since 1995, over 20 years. Plz comment
High up overlooking the open moorland, sunset on Yar Tor. Thanks for taking the time to have a look :-)
While visiting a granite memorial (Cave-Penney Cross) I discovered some spectacular views and Tors. I walked upward along the path through the colourful Heather and Gorse to the top of Yar Tor. The granite spiralling wall was spectacular especially with a stunning sunset. A tall tripod and a wide angle lens were my ‘tools of choice’.
In an effort to expedite the process of setting up and photographing these kinds of scenes, I did this one with a webcam instead of my Canon.
On the one hand, I could see exactly what I was doing, at 4k, while composing and lighting the scene. And review the frame before even taking the photo.
Cons, the quality is noticeably lower, and I had less control over things like dof. Photoshopping the result also turned out a bit more tricky thanks to the poor quality.
I'm fairly happy with the result, however.
”Chasiv Yar: Fireproof” is an open-air photography exhibition created by Ukrainian soldiers from the 24th Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. It documents their defense of the bombarded frontline city of Chasiv Yar.
The exhibition features photographs by Oleg Petrasiuk displayed on bullet-riddled fences collected directly from Chasiv Yar.
The exhibition’s true power lies in the fact that it was created entirely by Ukrainian soldiers themselves – the very people who fought for the town, documented the evidence of Russia’s war of aggression, and preserved the memory of their fellow soldiers.
In a sense, the installation itself is as expressive as the photographs, as it allows visitors to literally touch the reality of this war – here in Sweden.
Exhibition dates: 13 March – 27 March 2026

There were gale warnings for Dartmoor today so obviously that would be the best time to go there looking for LE opportunities! The warnings were correct and as well as the unbelievably strong wind there was horizontal rain showers to enjoy too! Unsurprisingly, the camera was being blown about all over the place so the image quality is pretty poor. The long exposure just exaggerates the slightest movement. However, I quite like the image and provided you don't zoom in too much its just about ok.
A man made construction at the top of Yar Tor would indicate that someone had a lot of time on his hands.

The RS-24 Yars also known as RT-24 Yars or Topol'-MR is a Russian MIRV-equipped, thermonuclear weapon intercontinental ballistic missile first tested on May 29, 2007, after a secret military R&D project, to replace the older R-36 and UR-100N that have been in use for nearly 50 years. RS-24 is a missile that is heavier than the current Topol-M, and which some reports say can carry up to 10 independently targetable warheads. The 2007 tests were publicized as a response to the missile shield that the United States were planning to deploy in Europe. RS-24 has been deployed operationally since 2010.
