China, Xian, "Muslim Food Street", the collective name for a number of streets behind the "Drum Tower" in the Muslim Quarter.
The busy entrance / exit to the food street at the Bell Tower.
The streets became a tourist scenic spot, famous for its traditional foods, cultural activities & unending lines of restaurants & food stalls, sampling from an extensive variety of local dishes.
The Muslim food in Xian can be traced back to the Tang dynasty, 618-907 & established its special characteristic recipes consisting mainly of beef & mutton, complementing with a variety pastry Items.
The city Xian in the Shaanxi province became worldwide known depicting the sculptures of the terracotta armies, surounding the grave of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China, buried in 210–209 BCE.
Local farmers in the Lintong District discovered the figures in 1974, dating from approximately the late third century BCE.
Also acknowledged is Xian, for its City Wall of the ancient capital of China, also known as the fortifications of Xian enclosing the city centre area. The wall now stands 12 mtr tall, 12-14 mtr wide at the top, 15-18 mtr wide at the bottom. The north & the south wall 4,23 km each, the shorter east & the west wall of the rectangular 2,64 km each side, the wall covers 13.74 km in total length with a deep trench surrounding it. Every 120 mtr there is a flanking tower, which extends out from the main wall, altogether there are 98 ramparts. The distance between every two ramparts is just within the range of an arrow shot from either side.
The rectangle of the wall is also one of the largest & most complete ancient Military Defence Systems in the World.

The Chinese calendar year 4715, Year of the Rooster,
January 28. 2017 – February, 02. 2018,
the next year of the rooster will start on 13. February 2029.
Certain dishes are eaten during the Chinese New Year
for their symbolic meaning.
Lucky food is served during the 16-day festival season, specifically New Year’s Eve, which is believed to bring good luck for the upcoming year.
The auspicious symbolism of these foods is based on their pronunciations or appearance.
Chinese Dumplings stay for wealth, with a history of more than 1,800 years, dumplings, 饺子, Jiǎozi, are a classic Chinese food & a traditional dish eaten on Chinese New Year's Eve.
Some other traditional food eaten on the Chinese New Year & stay for are;
Fish, 鱼, Yú, — an increase in prosperity
Spring rolls, 春卷, Chūnjuǎn — wealth
Glutinous rice cake, 年糕, Niángāo — a higher income or position
Sweet rice balls 汤圆, Tāngyuán — family closeness
Longevity noodles, 长寿面, Chángshòu Miàn — happiness & longevity
Good fortune fruits — fullness & wealth, they are selected as they are particularly round & so called golden in colour,
like oranges, tangerines, lemons or grapefruits etc.
Luckiest things for Roosters;
Numbers - 5, 7 & 8
Days - the 4th & 26th days of a Chinese lunar month
Colours - gold, brown & yellow
Flowers - gladiola, cockscomb
Directions - south, south-east
Months - the 2nd, 5th & 11th Chinese lunar months
Roosters should avoid;

Numbers - 1, 3 & 9
Directions - East
Months - the 3rd, 9th & 12th Chinese lunar months

So I can find little about this old ferry. There is no information about it anywhere that I can find. It did operate on the Ohio River ferrying between Petersburg, Kentucky and near Aurora, Indiana. Seems to me that my mom told me it was in operation in the 50's. I'm glad Jason who went with me here suggested walking further down the creek for this perspective.

Even though I had seen photographs of Sandstone Falls, a 1500 ft. river wide waterfall on the New River, I never really realized the volume, size or beauty of this magnificent natural wonder. Myself and longtime friends Jason Haley, Bryan Janosick drove down to meet up with our good friend and West Virginia waterfall photographer Randy Sanger. Our first day there we visited this area after sunrise and the fog had mostly lifted. Since we were only staying 5 miles away we opted to get up well before sunrise and come back the next day. Joined by new friend and fellow waterfall photographer Todd Williams the five of us were given a beautiful display of nature at it's best. The images I will be posting of Sandstone Falls will not give justice to it's sheer size and awe inspiring beauty.
Jason, Bryan and I also met new friend and West Virginia photographer Sarah Hampton who joined us periodically during the trip.
Germany, Hamburg, Harbour, The Kehrwiederfleet / Brooksfleet, small channels running through the warehouse complex, which was awarded with the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site on 5 July 2015, during the “Blue Port 2015” event. A light happening at the harbour since 2008 by “Light Artist Michael Batz”. The whole harbour area dipped every night in blue light for ten days, a worldwide unique light art production. The event will end with the “Hamburg Cruise Days”, seven cruise liner, including the Queen Mary II, are expected on the weekend from the 11.-13. September, which will end with a giant firework during a pared of all cruise liners on Saturday night & a departure parade on Sunday afternoon.

I read about a new cool Yahoo! mail beta. Being curious I logged in and got this big image... not very informative. After clicking "No, thanks" I got the new ymail beta... thanks for the upgrade. But would have been nice with some information about what was going to happen.
Yahoo LA has 2 staff hawks to prevent the geese from nesting in the Playa Vista Park. #badass Emma (in photo) is employed about 15 hours a week.
