Retro Intercity liveried power car 253 051 (43 184 in it's modern incarnation) 'Laira Diesel Depot' leads a Cross Country Service into Berwick Upon Tweed on a rainy afternoon. I kept an eye on RTT for HST XC Services while in Berwick as some of them stop there and some pass through. I went to the station in the rain to shoot this one and then got quite excited when I saw on RTT it had the Intercity liveried Power Car on the front! A minute or two before it was due I darted out from under the cover of the road bridge and went to the end of the platform and snapped it as it came around the bend. I find it interesting how a livery can almost change the front appearance of a train such as this, Compare it with my previous shot of the usual XC livery.

XC15 - Wesco League Championships at Lakewood HS in Arlington. October 24th, 2015. Last race for majority of the team.

The Soul out on an XC ride. This is actually the bottom of a wrong turn, but was actually an interesting and pretty valley, so all good. Just a bit of a climb back up.

I grew up doing a bit of XC skiing in Minnesota. It was a perfect climate for it, not tons of snow and most of it was packed down with less resistance. In the mountain of the Pacific Northwest I prefer to snowshoe. It's fun to be in the deep snow and it allows me to go anywhere with relative ease.

I went off trail just a bit for this image. Between the sound dampened forest and her focus on pushing ahead and staying upright, she didn't even notice me.

Run until you can't run any longer. Up the hill. Down the hill. Through the woods. On the path. Off the path. Just run!

Convair XC-99 outside Kelly AFB, San Antonio, Texas in July 1980.

From Wikipedia:

"The Convair XC-99, AF Ser. No. 43-52436, is a prototype heavy cargo aircraft built by Convair for the United States Air Force. It was the largest piston-engined land-based transport aircraft ever built, and was developed from the Convair B-36 bomber, sharing the wings and some other structures with it. The first flight was on 24 November 1947 in San Diego, California, and after testing it was delivered to the Air Force on 26 May 1949.

The aircraft was put on display at Kelly Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas, in 1957. Deterioration of the airframe due to the high magnesium content was beyond local abilities to address. The aircraft was later moved to a grassy field near the base and 1993 the USAF moved it back to the Kelly AFB."

The aircraft was disassembled at Kelly Air Force Base and its sections transported to theUS Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio for anti-corrosion preservation and reassembly there. It was subsequently transported in the summer of 2012, to Davis-Monthan AFB.
