There are over 1000 slot canyons in southern Utah.

Cottonwood Canyon is located near the Cockscomb in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. On a hot day, the shade doesn't offer a great break from the heat, because the air flow through the canyon is pretty low. And, despite the fact that this is a desert, slot canyons are no place to be if there are heavy rains.

For me, this scene is special because of the colors and the quiet nature of this place. Hiking along the canyon with my bride is a great memory from an amazing journey.

Been up all night looking at falling stars :) Last night was supposed to be a once in a year thing. Found out it is hard to catch them :) Anybody know the rest of the song :) The elevation is almost 10,000 ft, I think that is why it is so clear and so many stars.

I drove several hours under the rain but, arriving at Jökulsárlón glacial lake, I had this nice gift : the clouds dispersed for the sunset.

We paid a brief visit to Rocky Mountains National Park while in Denver Colorado. It was cold, the light was poor and the visit rather rushed. At Red Rocks Amphitheatre I braved the elements to get his shot while the light was good.

Mein zweiter Tag im Spiel. Aber leider blicke ich hier noch nicht durch.

My second day in the game. But unfortunately I don't look through here yet.

Wow - I never thought this would happen, certainly not in the UK and only 30 minutes from my doorstep.

By all accounts the last time one was seen in Leeds was some 40 years or so ago, so this was a very special visit indeed.

I had seen the internet come alive with excitement at it's arrival on a local street. Normally by the time I get along to see a rarity they have long since left, but not this time.

What a day i am so thrilled to finally see this iconic beauty in the wild.
