I had observed several gulls do this fly around and land (behind me as it were) and thought it might be fun to try and capture it,
Any how after several unhappy attempts at putting it all together, today was a reasonable success. The light on the Gull, large and central, is courtesy of a large window reflection of the sun, acted like a flash in effect, i have since wondered how the birds cope with this reflection when they get close, i suppose it is a little like us, driving into the headlamp beam of an oncoming car, you just learn to handle it......
If I can't find them, I will make them :) And we have fun fun fun til my wife takes my Can Am awayyyyyyyyyyyy :)
Sunset in the Blue Ridge Mountains, western North Carolina, USA, near Great Smoky Mountain National Park not far from the Tennessee border.
It was a very cool, breezy evening here at Waterrock Knob near Soco Gap at the time of this capture, with lightly clouded skies and wonderful yet subtle colorful sunlight peeking through just before sunset.
My intent was to capture the "true blue" of these beautiful mountains as well as the essence of why they're called the Great "Smokies".
Theological Hall at the Strahov Monastery, Prague, Czech Republic (had to do a vertical stitch of 2 shots to capture as much of the ornate ceiling as possible; as before, I was allowed to shoot only from the doorway of the hall, having paid for a special photo permission)
The Theological Hall was built in the 17th century by architect Giovanni Domenico Orsi. In the 18th century, the hall was extended by several meters and artist Siard Nosecky painted frescoes on its walls.
On the right, you can see a Gothic wooden statue of St. John the Evangelist. On the left stands the book wheel from the 17th century for study work. The gear inside it enabled its shelves to remain at the same angle so that books would not slide when the wheel was turned.
In the central part of the hall, you see a number of globes, both terrestrial and astronomical. The most valuable of them were manufactured in the workshop of the famous Blaeu family of Rotterdam.
Over 20,000 volumes are kept in the Theological Hall, mostly on theology (hence the name of the hall).
Above the iron doors at the bottom of the library, there is an inscription: Initium sapientiae timor Domini - the beginning of wisdom is fear of God.
those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music

Been up all night looking at falling stars :) Last night was supposed to be a once in a year thing. Found out it is hard to catch them :) Anybody know the rest of the song :) The elevation is almost 10,000 ft, I think that is why it is so clear and so many stars.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XnhL4DPebE&index=10&list... flickr friends!
I drove several hours under the rain but, arriving at Jökulsárlón glacial lake, I had this nice gift : the clouds dispersed for the sunset.

We had some nicer weather today, sunshine and a lovely blue sky. I wish I had had more time to enjoy it, these kind of miracles should really happen on weekends, but at least the cats could make the best of it. Here is Sethi who decided that it was safe to venture outside when he noticed that the snow started to disappear. :)
