Today is World Smile Day. Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile today!!! Hope I did. Have a great weekend too.
WORLD SMILE DAY
Each year on the first Friday in October, World Smile Day devotes a day to smiles and spreading random acts of kindness.
If someone smiles at you, you’re bound to smile back. A smile often expresses a feeling, encouragement to someone, or serves as a greeting. I send SMILES to you all today.
Thanks to Julie (smiles7) for letting me know that this is an actual thing, celebrated on the first Friday of October. This was taken last Friday at the zoo, waiting to enter the Chimp house. This surely brings a smile to my face, and hopefully yours too!

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. A spontaneous split-second smile from this optimistic young woman on #WorldSmileDay (which was a grey, cold and gloomy affair in Glasgow). I love the sun on her Boonie Hat. Enjoy!
2nd October 2020:
It's World smile Day, so I found my smiley and came up with this. I did try adding some extra colour(s) in one of my editing software, but it just didn't seem to work. Or maybe it was just me!

Street portrait from Brighton, England. A shot from earlier in the year when I was on location shooting for Facebook in Brighton.
This is Izzy, a member of the crew, and happily standing in for a light test in some difficult conditions with only a reflector in order to stay as mobile as possible. I thought this was a perfect shot to post for #WorldSmileDay today.
I did try to get a fresh smile from Glasgow today but alas, it was just grim and gloomy in the city. Enjoy!

Happy World Smile Day! / Szczęśliwego Międzynarodowego Dnia Uśmiechu!
World Smile Day is organized since 1999 every first Friday of October. The idea to organize a Smile Day came up with Harvey Ball , an artist who in 1963 created
famous smiley face stamp on a yellow background. The first edition was held in Worcester, Massachusetts, and immediately attracted the attention of world media.

WORLD SMILE DAY

If someone smiles at you, you’re bound to smile back. A smile can be used to express a feeling, encourage someone, or be used as a greeting. If you don’t smile enough, World Smile Day is the perfect day to start.
There are many benefits of smiling:
Improves mood
Lowers blood pressure
Relieves stress
Betters relationships
Boosts the immune system
Relieves pain
Increases life expectancy
Who wouldn’t want all those benefits? All it takes is smiling. And the more often, the better!

Today is World SMILE Day.
As is well known by now throughout the world Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts created the smiley face in 1963. That image went on to become the most recognizable symbol of good will and good cheer on the planet.
As the years passed Harvey Ball became concerned about the over-commercialization of his symbol, and how its original meaning and intent had become lost in the constant repetition of the marketplace. Out of that concern came his idea for World Smile Day®. He thought that we, all of us, should devote one day each year to smiles and kind acts throughout the world. The smiley face knows no politics, no geography and no religion. Harvey’s idea was that for at least one day each year, neither should we. He declared that the first Friday in October each year would henceforth be World Smile Day®. Ever since that first World Smile Day® held in 1999, it has continued every year in Smiley's hometown of Worcester, MA and around the world.
Be sure to join the celebration this year on Friday, October 5th, and "Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile!

It's Brian, always smiling, even though he's treated as a door stop. So, just smile at the world, and some of it may smile back!
You haven't seen much from me for awhile, but I HAVE been busy...writing POSTCARDS. In fact, yesterday (October 1st) was WORLD POSTCARD DAY.
Well, guess what other DAY it was? Yikes! And here I've written on just about every postcard that Worcester is the home of the original smiley!?

Happy (belated) World Smile Day!
The original ‘smiley’ was created by commercial artist Harvey Ball in 1963. Concerned about the commercialisation of the quickly iconic graphic, Harvey established Smile Day, which encourages you to participate in acts of kindness and friendliness, and to smile and make others smile.
A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.
Today is World Smile Day.........Do an act of kindness. Help one Person Smile. Here's mine to YOU.
There was a large Lego mural set up at the Christmas Fair at Toronto City Hall. This was a very cool mural

For 118 pictures in 2018, #44, "World Smile Day". This little guy has the smile of a used car salesman. I was undecided about the two images I posted tonight, but this one won out for the 118 pictures theme.
Seeing as it's #WorldSmileDay and my photostream has recently been full of Banksy's Dismaland castle :)
