Another panel of the incredible Pompeii Forum frieze from the atrium of the Praedia (urban villa ) of Julia Felix. This section depicts the sale of work tools, on the left, and shoes, on the right. Note the cobbler holding a shoe last in his hand, on which he’ll form a custom shoe(s) for his clients, who sit on chairs, about to try on the merchandise.
This frieze was painted at a height of 2.47 m in atrium 24 of the villa complex in Via dell'Abbondanza in Pompeli. It depicts characters of different age, sex and social class engaged in various activities in an outdoor area with colonnaded porticoes and equestrian statues which can be identified as the Forum. Within areas occasionally demarcated by awnings stretched between the columns, sellers of shoes, fabrics, bronze vessels or work tools display their wares to customers. Greengrocers, bakers and a cook offer their products for sale near the Macellum - the permanent market - while men wearing togas read public notices hanging from the bases of status (seen here in this panel). In another sector, a slave girl is being auctioned and, beneath the colonnade, a teacher is giving a reading lesson, while a pupil is being punished by having his back flogged. The range of scenes, the varied characterization of the figures and the transient nature of the stalls capture the lively atmosphere of a market day which was held every nine days (known as the nundinae). Placed under the protection of Jupiter or Mercury, the day became an opportunity for administrative affairs, meetings and celebrations.

Szék (Sic) is a sleepy village not far from Kolozsvár (Cluj) in Transylvania (Romania), where old houses are still standing with their traditional blue walls and thatch roofs.
An isolated community, the village managed to preserve its unique folk traditions, costumes and music through the centuries. Many of the older villagers still wear their traditional costume as they go about their everyday life.
Well needed repair leather repair work to my 1947 GPO Work bag.
I stitched the busted seam then gave it all a good feed with Neatsfoot oil and finished it off by coating it with bees wax and buffing to a shine.
