I have never been a bit runner. It is not an activity that I enjoy or ever will. I was a Marine, and they made us do a lot of it. However, I can appreciate the dedication that these individual have to do this each and every day.

this is for a friend of mine.
and he knows damn well who he is. ;)
we keep tabs on eachother when it comes to working out.
all i have to say to my friend is this...
dude.
i got off my ass on a cold, snowy sunday in denver and hauled it to the gym, WITH all my camera stuff, had a long, hard, exhausting and ultimately completely fulfilling workout AND took pictures to prove it in the WORST possible light ever.
what did YOU do today??? ;)
song of the day: a little less conversation, by elvis presley.
for the purpose of working out, it has to be the JXL remix.
(i swear, it's a VERY fun workout song!)

'There is nothing sad that does not forget
Someone insists and speaks to the heart
Everything sad exists and does not forget
Someone insists and hurts the heart
Nothing new exists on this planet
Let it not be said here at the bar table.'
Fernando Brant, Saudade dos Planes Panair (Conversando no Bar), whose melody is by Milton Nascimento.
There is a single restored moai in this small village, the other moai are ruins.
***
A former royal residence:
This archaeological complex is composed of two restored ahu which turn their backs on a small bay, where they break the waves with force on the cliffs of lava.
The ahu that can be seen here belong to the late stage of construction of the moai statues, and date back to about the seventeenth century. Together with the nearby ceremonial center of Tahai, they offer a panorama that suggests what must have been the landscape of the island in ancient times, with numerous ahu bordering much of the coast.
It is said that the ariki, or kings, resided temporarily in Hanga Kio’e. In addition, in the surroundings of this place existed a school where the art of carving the talking tablets or kohau rongo rongo was taught.
The site consists of a coastal esplanade of two ahu with a moai each, the Ahu Akapu and the Ahu Hanga Kio’e; as well as a square and a hare moa (chicken coop), which was restored in 1972. There are also several remains of hare paenga (boat houses), which were part of the ceremonial center.
A place of legend:
Hanga Kio’e means “Bay of the Mouse” and it seems that the name comes from an old legend about a widow who entered this small cove with a mouse in the mouth, in mourning for the death of her husband, whose remains were buried here after the ahu (ceremonial platform) was built.
The moai that rises on the Ahu Akapu has a height of 4 meters and is complete, only lacks the pukao (stone hat). On the other hand the Ahu Hanga Kio’e, only has a part of the back erected on the platform, that was rescued from the bay.
Behind the ahu, the terrain forms a small hill that offers beautiful views of the whole, with Hanga Roa in the background and the waves roaring among lava cliffs. Hanga Kio’e is a place seldom frequented by tourists, so it invites you to relax and imagine how life could have been in a village so small and remote.
sooc / questions? / view here s'il vous plait!
this is the track where i run, up at my old high school. it seriously gets the prettiest sunsets... this was around 8 o'clock tonight.
don't get me wrong, i'm not a "real" runner haha. i'm aware that i'm really tiny, but i've just always been like that. i exercise because my joints are hypermobile... which means they like to just kind of slide out of place if i don't stay reasonably in shape, and then it hurts like arthritis. lame, right? but it means i can do fun things like bend myself into a pretzel with little to no effort. at least it keeps me active! *end random fact*
i feel like the 365 is making me take less "spur-of-the-moment" pictures, because i don't have to stock up for the next few days. i dunno. i'll make an effort to do more non-365 things from now on.

For FGR...pieces of me.
I feel that working out is a big part of me. I can take all of my stress and frustration from the day out while exercising... Afterwards I have a fresh look at things and feel like a new person. This is my "me" time.

Located on the northeast beaches of Rapa Nui, Playa Anakena is the only island on the island with a wide strip of sand and, with its palm trees and blue waters, is almost a caricature of an idyllic landscape of the South Pacific. The beach is perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
Easter Island (Rapa Nui, Spanish: Isla de Pascua) is an island and special territory of Chile in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeasternmost point of the Polynesian Triangle in Oceania.

A quick History about where I am stepping on this picture:
According to the oral tradition of the island, Anakena was the landing site of Hotu Matu'a, a chief Polynesian who led a two canoe settlement group here and founded the first settlement in Rapa Nui.
It was later a ceremonial center where islanders read from Rongorongo plates.
Anakena featured in the manu Tangata or cult Birdman as in the years when the new Birdman was from the western clans, he would end his celebrations in Anakena.
Modern archeology has found traces of human occupation in Anakena as early as 1200 CE, although linguistic and other analyzes indicate a date range for the first settlement of Rapa Nui between 300 and 1200 AD.
Anakena has been the site of several archaeological excavations including those of Katherine Routledge in 1914 and both William Mulloy and Thor Heyerdahl in 1950, and two of her Ahus have been restored.
Anakena was used as one of the movie locations for 1994 Kevin Reynolds movie Rapa Nui.

This moai has 4 meters high. It traveled 25 km from Rano Raraku to the west coast.
Considering I'm at the gym at least 5 days a week, I would consider this my other hobby and then some. More of a passion, me thinks. ;-)

So excited to share with you all that today I made Member Of The Month at my gym. The coaching staff are amazing and have been gearing me up to top fitness. I'm currently doing two workouts a day, both HIIT workouts that kick-my-butt and I'm spent by the end. Well worth it.
Cheers.
