You know whan you have driven by something many times and have tried to catch a shot. They never work out but you keep trying. One day maybe.
Happy Truck tHuRsDay
I saw this while on the road one day. On the way back from a jaunt through the flea market in Waterford ON.
I put this in B&W because the truck was white and the colours in the BG were taking away from the beauty of the truck itself.
Happy Truck tHuRsDay
One of these days I will buy me one these thar trucks.
Just outside of town there is a place called BenMar and they have a car club there every Saturday night. Easily 60+ cars.
Great place to hang for awhile and here 50's music and view the cars.
Happy Truck Thursday
Still trying to figure out the whole self portrait thing. Gotta get comfy in front of the camera. I'm working on it.
There are just some days when a girl's gotta wear a crown (even if it's from the dollar store!). We all need a little bit of princess in our lives!

Bookshelf porn
Most of the books on this shelf I have read already. But there are shelves dedicated particularly for those I yet need to get to... my estimate is that I would have enough books for about 2 to 5 years (depending on my reading pace which is somewhere between 25 and 50 books a year). I won't complain.
ODC Our Daily Challenge: Working on it
I don't remember how many years have gone since I helt needles and wool in my hands.
It's hard to get the details all painted without getting it on the windows so now that their complete time to wash the windows
since I didn't like the staircase that came with this kit (and didn't have it since this was purchased assembled in a bad state - anyways it's sagging pretty badly without the furniture so I got parts to an old dollhouse and had this cute porch column so we cut it down and it works - I still need another one so we need to make one and put it at the stairs so hold that side up too! Problem fixed but still not thrilled since pictures will be impaired but maybe I'll make it removable LOL ;D
It has been at least five years since I started this project. I may still be working on it five years hence!

i made a promise i'd never be caught up in pain
but it seems the only way(that we could)
go back to the way it was
and sacrifice the way it could be
we could fall apart or we could fall in love again
Fall apart - Deepfield.
1. This is SOOC. I'm learning things lately. I'm enjoying that.
2. The first thing I did this morning was to get out of bed, turn off my phone, put it in my purse, and hang my purse in my closet. the end.
3. If anyone has messaged/emailed me today, I wouldn't know it. I apologize for that...however I need that right now.
4. I love the sunburst in this picture. Seriously.
5. My kid was adorable today. Again. As usual. He's kind of awesome.
6. I'm stepping away completely from all online contact. Anyone and everyone. I'm focusing on my two guys right now, I'll be back eventually...but no telling how long that will be.
7. I will be finishing this 366. That I can promise.
8. I had a lot of fun watching my crazy child be a daredevil on the playground this morning. He has no fear. That makes me afraid....heh.
9. A car drove by right before I snapped this and kicked up all that dust...which I kinda like how it looks blown out. And I kinda like how they probably thought we were weird.
10. I know my best friend understands my absence, and I believe someday we will fix things and be okay.
11. I can't stop shooting in monochrome.
12. I really need to vacuum. hm.
13. I learned something random about zippo lighters today. Did you know they are all date stamped? both the shell and the guts....hmmm....so very intruiging for this nerd.
14. I have no idea when I'll turn on my phone again......
15. I realized this morning, all over again, how much I adore this man. He's the best person I've ever known.
Random Fact: As a reinforcement of what I'd said a few days back...I'm stepping back from online. I'm not "leaving" and I'm not angry or upset with anyone. I just need some time to fix myself, spend time with my family, and heal some things that desperately need it. Please no one take it personally. Me turning off my phone proves that family comes first, and honestly...I haven't been doing that.
Now I am.
see you all tomorrow.

for this one, i couldn't help but change the title from the original assignment: a new kind of portrait. this was the first project i've done that was so heavily process-oriented. likewise, it was the first project for which i used another person as a model.
the idea behind it was that we were supposed to make some initial sketches of our subject and take a photo, print it out and try to hear what it is telling us to do. rather than interpreting the person the way we want to portray them, or even how they want to be portrayed, listen to what to make of it.
my subject: one of my newfound friends from my architectural history class. i barely knew him a week when i asked him to work with me. the process was astonishingly revealing. i began to see jean-paul's words realized, this whole idea about becoming intimate with one's subject, whatever it is, be it a person or a tree or a building. at first one becomes comfortable with the subject and, in the end, one is able to know a person without even exchanging words. quite remarkable. try it.
Before..... and After.
(Still not finished in here, though.)
This is just one example of why I haven't been around lately.
I've been on a cleaning and purging and organizing spree.
I can't believe I'm posting these shots - but I wanted to show you just one example of my "skeletons in the closet".
I have more closets, drawers, shelves, cabinets, etc., that desperately need my attention. So, until I can get some order around here, I will have to be away from Flickr for a while longer.
Thanks, you guys, for the notes and emails, wondering where I was, and asking if I'm OK - I'm so touched by your concern!
I miss you all, but I'll be back... someday soon.
Philadelphia 2008 Home
For the last three days I have been re-arranging my computer room. I had to roll the behemoth desk to the other side of the room and re-jigger myriads of cables and power cords. After three failed attempts I got my matrix of six PC's back up to keep my little construct going once again. I some how managed to damage the motherboard in my main computer system named "Samantha 7" (You 60's anime folks will get the reference) Seems like I fried the the keyboard and mouse inputs that were running through a KVM switch. The keyboard seemed to work fine until the windows log-in and then the entire system froze up. Having no time to seriously trouble-shoot that problem any further I switched the keyboard to a USB port and that did the trick. The Oracle was correct... There is always choice. :-)
My son, his wife and little Joshua (and me!!) have been working hard at their "new" house! Their home has gone through a full renovation with an extension and we are busy painting and working hard to get them living here before the end of the month ~ hopefully! We are all working hard to achieve that!!
Little Joshua is always happy to help us out!!
Our Daily Challenge ~ Working On It ....
Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all.
Now it's so much better! I painted and distressed it and I love it!!! All the colors in this room are going to be so pretty!!! Hopefully I will get to it all this week but I still have lots of tiny details to work on!
Love love love my new miter cutter my daughter gave me for Christmas - OMW it makes quick work of all the details I still have to do - I made this picture frame with it and then went on to make all the door casings and the dormer casing and quiet a few more things! <3
At a concert sometime ago friend of mine performed a song by his friend Torben Stock. Beautiful heartbreaking song that made me tear up a little. And I got this image in my head of a broken window with the drapes moving in the wind. This is as close I got to that.

Listen: Sad Movie Song
I just saw a sad movie without a happy end
I don’t know why it moved me so deep I had to cry
lovers are torn, sadness is born again
no happy end, you know that’s all about a sad movie song
they say it won’t come easy, the love of your life
but you are here, oh so near now, I won’t let you go
lovers are torn, sadness is born again
no happy end, you know that’s all about a sad movie song
you know that’s all about a sad movie song
(lyrics written by torben stock)
I got these really fun decorative doors from another old dollhouse and they don't fit so I will have to cut the opening and fill in places too and then add the diamond window glass on top. A friend made these balcony rails to match our real life ones but with everything going on it's TOoooooo Much!!!
Also we cut and placed the dovecote and now looking at it in pictures it's hanging to low so need to trim that up and add all the details later.
Sometimes you just have to decided not to use every idea you have on your house LOL Will see if I change my mind about the doors too ;D will see!
We also corrected the pitch of the dormer today - thank goodness, it was so bad before so now to glue on the extended pieces and then frame that out and glue it in!
Haven't done a sequence in a while, this first try burst at his krook inspired me to get back to it.
This has been on and off my easle for close to a year now , I keep changing things , I did the whole wall and didn't like it so wash it out and go again , I've been picking at it the last couple of days , bringing up details and hohumm'n on the wall ...
