nestled in the gentle light of pollenรงa's old town, an everyday scene unfolds before an age-old window. two women, clad in white and red, stand out like vibrant strokes of paint yet blend into the historical tapestry. they work in unison, the window their shared charge, tending to the legacy before them. half-open, half-closed, it captures their exchangeโ€”not of words, but of movements, a shared rhythm in the act of cleaning and renewal. a simple bucket stands witness to the unassuming nature of this scene, rich in history and community.

Some more fun with post processing of my original photo of Amish teenagers driving a loaded hay wagon in Iowa last week....

A few weeks ago we went for a last autumn visit to our favorite sunflower patch and there were grackles in unimaginable numbers hanging out in the large, old cottonwoods surrounding the field and lighting off in swarms to go pick in the field.

The noise was a bit un-nerving but it was fascinating to watch them work. I will never forget it.

captured in the city of amsterdam, this photograph reveals a man meticulously cleaning his shop window, while the facade of the building across the street reflects in the glass. his focused efforts to maintain the storefront create a mirror image of the urban architecture, blending his diligent work with the city's external beauty. this scene underscores the interconnectedness of personal labor and public spaces, where individual actions contribute to the collective urban experience.

Gospel Practice Late Thursday Night

"Centre Memorial de Gisimba (Gisimba Memorial Center)

The Gisimba orphanage, located in the Nyamirambo quarter of Kigali, is led by Damas Mutezintare Gisimba. Damas's father founded the orphanage in 1980 with 18 children living in one house. Damas took over in 1986 after the death of his father. During the genocide Damas sheltered over 400 children and adults in the small orphanage compound from the predations of the interahamwe [the Hutu paramilitary squads that carried out much of the genocide]. Though the orphanage was repeatedly menaced, Damas and his colleagues held their ground and did not give in to the genocidaires. He has been honored for his heroism by the Rwandan government and many other organizations.

In the past 35 years, I have worked on projects with many people -- some who were extremely good at their jobs, some not so good, and some downright awful.

The dividing line between the three groups: Attention to details. Generosity of spirit. Good-naturedness. Reliability. And a sense of fun.

I now have the extreme pleasure of dealing with another group of people, all of whom fall into the rare "extremely good" category.

These hard-working volunteers have taken on their tasks and responsibilities in Mama's Bloomers as though I were paying them hefty salaries. And. of course, we all know how well Flickr pays. (smile) All that cash and $3.50 will get me a nice cappuccino.

As I ponder this group of individuals, I marvel at them. They come from all over the world, and yet they are united in their work ethics, in their tremendous hearts, and in their generous spirits. And in their attention to details.

I bow to you all - my marvelous team members. I thank God you exist, and that He chose to allow you into my life. For you have enriched it greatly. Thank-you.

The line-up:

Gina: My co-head admin, and my dearest Flickr friend. My girl. You know my heart for you, Gina! Cotton dresses, pouring rain, and laughter! You work far too hard. You worry me. Slow down, sweetheart. Come walk in the garden with me.

Claudio: My exotic Italian friend. Hard-working and so very consistent. Thank you, Claudio. In the short time, I have known you; I have come to appreciate your generous spirit greatly.

Aaron: A longtime and one of my dearest male friends on Flickr. Thank you, for all that you are, Aaron. Your spirit is a rare find, indeed. You will always be special to me.

Sharon: Where you came from, I'll never know. But I thank God for adding your quirky little self to my life. You work so hard, and give so much, and even when facing tough times, you burst through like a ray of sunshine. Love you, Sharon!

Lynne: Can you say "busy as a beaver?" This woman is simply remarkable. And she manages to get it all done. She works tirelessly on Mama's, and she still manages to turn out some of the most beautiful photographs. I am so blessed to count you among my good friends, Lynne. You are amazing.

Bill: This is a unique individual, as unique as they come. I knew Bill in passing, in that he was always there to ask for help in any of the other groups I have worked with on Flickr. He usually would step in as an admin, do the code work, and then step down. But this time he stayed. And, Bill, that generous act has not gone unnoticed. Thank you.

Peter: I was first attracted to Peterโ€™s sense of fun. But then I got to know him as a fellow believer in the Lord. Thatโ€™s when he became my baby brother in Christ. Peter has become dearer to me than any blood brother ever could be. I adore this wonderful man, this wonderful steadfast and righteous man. You know you are never far from my heart, dear Peter. Be blessed in the name of Yeshua ha Mashiach, my dear Ach. Much love from your Achot b'Mashiach! (He gives me Hebrew lessons!)

Dave H. - What started as a goof-around friendship, has turned into a hardy and respectful work relationship. Dave takes my breath away with his attention to details, his wonderful generous spirit, and his blessed sense of fun. You are very special to me, Dave. I would work with you anywhere, anytime, on any project, because I would know you would always have my back. And I would always have yours.

David T. - For those of you who don't know, this is my husband of 22 years. He isn't into flowers, but he is into me. When he saw me nearly have a breakdown in trying to handle the unruly child that Mama's had become, he did what he always does for me. He came alongside me and asked how he could help me. He set up the software to count the awards, and he diligently tallies awards in the main pool, and in the specialty threads twice a day. He is my main man! My very best friend. The best husband on the planet! I love you, David.

Tom: Tom slipped in from nowhere. I spotted him because he was bopping around Mama's, all on his own, helping here and helping there, just like one of us. I loved that he carefully considered my request to join us, because I knew that when he did finally say, "Yes," that he meant what he said. I am blessed to count you as my friend, Tom. Very blessed.

Alan: This funny and wonderful man came storming in out of the blue. He stood out from the crowd like some goofy giraffe with a rose in his teeth, and bloomers on his head. Alan made me laugh. And I loved him immediately. Amazing spirit, and what a sense of fun. I am so glad to count you as one of my friends, Alan. You had me at, โ€œHello,โ€ too.

If you like Mamaโ€™s Bloomers, then please join me in applauding my team members. For it is because of them, that Mamaโ€™s garden is as healthy and as beautiful and as welcoming as it is.

Blessings,

Sheree

The Carlisle Thundering Herd football team lost Friday's conference game against the Cumberland Valley Eagles, by a score of 33-13. The Herd were without their starting QB, due to a concussion from the previous week of play. The team needs to win the rest of their games, if they hope to become eligible for the playoffs. A couple of backup players stepped up and played hard this game.

The refs made a few questionable calls in favor of CV and that could have changed the momentum of the game in Carlisle's favor. This is Coach Conrad's first year, so I feel the team will get better as the years go by. "ALL IN!"

That's according to compassionate conservatives Kwasi Kwarteng, Priti Patel, Dominic Raab, Chris Skidmore and Liz Truss (2012) in their book en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britannia_Unchained

Priti Patel (born 1972) is a British politician who served as Home Secretary from 2019 to 2022.
