Here’s how companies are trying to lure workers back to the officeFinance bosses are offering more incentives, including free meals, ping-pong and “contemplative spaces” as they battle to get staff back to the office, while concerns about the cost and value of commuting to work weigh on attendance worldwide.
Hybrid working policies were introduced across the industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, but data seen by Reuters and interviews with finance sector executives showed attendances falling short of expectations globally.
And with expenses like fuel and food rising rapidly, workers accustomed to saving commuting costs have further reason to want to stay away, handing employers a challenge to increase the appeal of office working.
“Employers have done a fair amount to make the office more attractive and purposeful,” Kathryn Wylde, chief executive officer of the Partnership for New York City, told Reuters, citing a range of perks from free meals to improving social space with ping-pong tables.
But a global survey of nearly 80,000 workers conducted by consultancy Advanced Workplace Associates (AWA) showed employees are not complying with hybrid working policies.
With phase one of our SUCT2021 (Screw-U-Covid Tour 2021) in the books and safely home, it is time to reflect on all the blessings granted. Many that we hoped would happen occurred…many more happened that we didn’t see coming, as they often do.
When naming blessings, you have to be careful as it is much like that one-minute acceptance speech at the Hollywood award shows I no longer watch. Not enough emphasis on a certain blessing or mentioning it fourth when maybe it should have been second can make it seem unappreciated. Not mentioning it at all can make it seem unnoticed. A major difference in this case, we know that all thanks go to God!
Normally when my Jojo pauses, takes in a deep breath and says “John, I have to tell you something” it normally means that my fly is open or that she is about to share a worry that I do not share. However, when my bride hit me with this phrase the other day, she looked much more serious than normal. It was then that she sincerely blurted out the totally unexpected…she said…and I quote …” Thank you for making me go on vacation!” These words from a true homebody not only warmed my heart, but granted me permission, forever and ever, to plan more vacations. This is what I heard and it is a blessing!
I had hoped to be blessed with great times with friends, good weather & food (mostly on the food) and safe travels…and we certainly were. It was the animal behavior that I was presented with that caught me off guard! I was blessed almost daily with animals I have photographed before but this time doing things I have never seen nor photograph. Yesterday I downloaded 1068 photos, we will start with this one.
Taken on the morning of April 5th, I found myself on a sections of Ft Pickens beach watching Cormorants, Pelicans, Osprey and Eagles feasting on a very large school of fish. The osprey would often dive down, grab a fish and then for the next several minutes battle other osprey and eagles who were trying to take it away. The action was so fast and furious that I had to hand hold my camera and lens in the air, causing both nausea and severe arm fatigue after the first twenty minutes or so of action. Here is one of my favorites from that experience.
Adventure before dementia!
I've had bad wifi for two days, taken hours to upload this one shot. Don't you hate that!
We have seen many kangaroos (and other Australian wildlife) along our journey. Some kangaroos have jumped in front of our car, too close for comfort, probably seen thousands as roadkill. But this is the biggest single mob we have seen in one spot in of all places, the railway yard in Barcaldine in Central Western Queensland. They became quite wary of us as we got close as you can see - thank heavens for a zoom lens.
Rail workers - so very appropriate as Barcaldine (Bar-call-din) is the location of the Australian Workers Heritage Centre.
We even had a storm and rain over night and today. A massive coastal system is reaching far inland. The few shots in recent days are just a few tempters. When we reach home hopefully safely by the weekend I will start doing the largish series and the odd story that goes with them. Until then take care friends.
Ho già caricato altre foto dei Cavatori di Zolfo del Kawaijen ma ogni volta che rivedo le foto e ricordo gli odori e la fatica.....
Beh questo è un piccolissimo tributo.....

There are two festival in Islam. One is Eid Ul Fiter and other one is Eid Ul Adha. After one month of fasting Muslims are allowed to enjoy Eid Ul Fiter. Around two months later they slaughter animals by the name of Allah. That is Eid Ul Adha. Although In both Eid it is meant to be joy of giving. However it also open the door to all sorts of traders.
After couple of days later of Eid Ul Adha I visited a place where raw-lather of slaughtered animals were stored. It was not easy to work in a sloppy place like that. On the other hand they had no protective gear even during the world wide COVID 19 pandemic situation. This guy in the picture was resting for a while after working long time.

Worker bee working hard or hardly working..
You know when you’re walking around a toy store looking at all the lego you can’t afford and something grabs your attention. Well this happened with the lego mario bee outfit set #71393. I saw the bee hat and thought “yes, I need to build something with that” One afternoon later I ended up with this little guy.
In late 2020, at the height of the COVID pandemic, Montana Rail Link wrapped their SD70ACe no. 4404 in this special scheme honoring Essential Workers. Unfortunately, after five years of service in and out of the tunnels of the line, the bold, patriotic look of the unit has acquired the same drab look of a stereotypical Southern Pacific unit.
Regardless of its appearance, when I heard that there was "an" MRL unit outside of the Topeka Shops, I ran out to photograph it, even if it was buried mid-consist. The fact that it was THIS MRL unit made it even better!
It may not look great anymore, but its cool to see these MRL units in my neighborhood, and I hope that the rumors of its PTC installation are true. That being said, lets not lose track of the message of this unit in that there were a lot of people back in 2020-21 who continued to go out each and every day doing yeoman's work to keep this world going, and good on 'em.
So we gotta say goodbye to the summer, but I promise you this, there's a whole lot of bugs still to come. Apologies for the earworm... not ;-)
Second in a series of end-of-summer sunflowers.
PLEASE: Do not post any comment graphics, they will be deleted. See info in my bio.

‘Sal de Tavira/Flor de Sal de Tavira’ are sea salts that have specific physical and chemical properties which differ from those of common salt. They are unrefined, unwashed and additive-free sea salts that give dishes a unique taste. They come from the salt pans located in the Ria Formosa National Park, Algarve.
I was lucky enough to stay on a tea plantation in Bengal, India for a few days. The photo opportunities were wonderful, but I found out later that while trying to shoot some very loud Hornbills, I was just the other side of a wire fence/bushes from a leopard who had attacked a goat, thus the warning noise from the birds!!
