I over-dyed this wool from T. The greens are so brilliant, I almost don't want to use them. I just want to keep looking at them stacked up with their edges all whispy...
although these don't sting they guard their territory against all other insects for their potential mates and can crush their foes to death with their spikes on their abdomen

As often happens, there was some light on the way up Crowden Clough that disappeared just before I got to the top. But there were some interesting conditions as the hill fog rolled in.

These letters were embedded in the entryway of a building that is now a bar. They once spelled, "Woolworth's."
Today we discovered a wonderful alpaca farm, only 5 miles from our home! Why didn't we know about this place before? Anyway, grabbed my camera and off we went. Didn't realize how difficult it was to get clear photos, as so often these peaceful creatures were moving in groups . . . They all have different facial features and are very entertaining!
Caught in a sudden heavy rain storm, these bee's will grip on to flower or leaf with their powerful jaws till long after the danger has past!

Found it a little difficult to rationalise my favourite read! Decided to opt for one of my fairly recent favourites, Hugh Howeys excellent dystopian future ‘Wool’. Only originally written as a short story, the author extended the story into a novel then a trilogy of books. Apparently optioned as a movie that hasn’t been filmed yet!

I finally got out in some interesting weather.
I was hoping for an afternoon of sunshine and snow showers. But after a little light earlier on at Swine's Back, I had to wait until just before sunset. It was worth waiting for though.

By the time I made it up top, the light was harsh with blue skies. But some hill fog blew in and helped the scene. Swine's Back just poking above the fog on thge horizon.
The soft texture of the wool envelops the entire image and reinforces the impression of tranquility, closeness, and pure, unadulterated wool.

I was walking through my village on the way to the shops & got drenched in a cloud burst but what followed was this beautiful rainbow. Wished the foreground had been better than the railway line, not to be.

Some fabulous light at the Wool, Packs last Sunday at sunset.
The composition is a little two dimensional. I should have moved around to the right.
This is the first time that I have noticed bog wool, Eriophorum chamissonis. This small cluster was seen beside a very small stream at 12,000 feet on the eastern slope of Cinnamon Pass in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. This species has a circumboreal distribution.
Like most sedges, this species is generally found in marshes, bogs, or fens.
The "wool" was collected by miners for pillows and has also been used in dressings during European wars.
