1st place "space wolf painting competition" winner in GW Fair Oaks on launch day.
There's a stage-by-stage sequence of progress shots I took while painting this in one sitting at the store here:

Canis Wolfborn rides into battle atop his terrifying gigantic mount, Thunderwolf Fangir. But back in those days, when Fangir was merely a small wolf cub ...
This is my WiP of Canis wolfborne. I magnetized the arms so i could use him as a wolf lord with various wargear options.
This was a mini project I had following the release of the new Space Wolves models and games-workshop paint range earlier this year.
The army consists of:
- Canis Wolfborn;
- Wolflord on Thunderwolf;
- Iron Priest on Thunderwolf with 3 Servitors and 2 Cyberwolves;
- 2 Lonewolves;
- 7 Grey Hunters with Wolfguard Leader;
- 15 Fenrisian Wolves (some used as meat shields for characters);
- 2 Thunderwolves (who act alone as seperate fast attack choices);
- Drop Pod;
- Deathstorm Drop Pod.
The army was intended to be a small detachment which lived off the land, relying on minimal mechanical support. The Iron Priest provides minimum maintenance required, while the drop pods represent where the group landed all those years ago.
This army setup seems to put alot of people into a state of panic. The best it has done so far is wiped out a Chaos Space Marine Army in only two turns, and lost less than 20% of the army in total points cost.
Work-in-progress space wolves. Njal Stormcaller is done, still have Canis Wolfborn and several more to finish.
I still need to add snow and grass to the base (the idea is a tundra edge). The bone parts came out great. I'm okay with the model, but I wish I had gone with brown for the wolf's coat, and highlighted to white from that.
Also, I gave Canis no irises because I thought it looked better on him to have stark white eyes.
Canis took the longest to paint, though Fangir (the Thunderwolf) was supprisingly easy to attain good results.

A Xmas prezzie from my wife, so far he's accounted for a Hive tyrant, 3 Ravenors, 4 Tyranid warriors, 10 Khorne Berzerkers and a Chaos marine Lord of Khorne. Not bad for 2 games! :-))
