Wizard Falls streams down the Metolius River as autumn colors burnish its banks in gold, amber and red. Not a plunge falls but more of a deep gorge sliced between volcanic rocks that form its bed, Wizard Falls resembles more of a rapids.

On one of the lowest tides of the year I went out and did a little exploring in some areas that are otherwise not accessible on a regular tide. As i was making my way back around all the rocks I found this nice area where the water was coming in pretty strong and I still had plenty of room to work and have a safe zone. Here I am standing Knee deep on a sandbar photographing the incoming water. Contrast and Saturation added.

It always amazes me that this lake's only source of water is the precipitation that falls within the rim of the caldera. Never get tired of seeing that blue.

Was playing with incense smoke trails a while ago...captured the usual twirls and spirals. Played with air and breeze for different shapes, no photoshop here but i always thought there was a demon and a spell casting wizard...maybe just an overactive imagination.
No photoshop to change shapes, colours enhanced in LR.

The sun has just dropped behind the horizon, but a few clouds remain lit up to decorate the sky behind the Wizard’s Hat sea stack.
I'm on a roll with drop photography lately. This one is another refraction of a book cover in the BG. of "Wizards and Witches". the whitish area in the drops is his beard.
My wife has a wonderful collection of "The Enchanted World" it is a series of twenty-one books published in 1984-1987. Each book focused on different aspects of mythology, fairy tales or folklore, and all were released by Time-Life Books

Milkyway over Crater Lake on the Forth of July. It was a cold and windy forth with a lot of cloud movement. It did clear enough to capture the Milkyway. The orange glow on the clouds is light pollution from the Crater Lake Lodge.
Voigtlander Heliar 15mm F4.5 Aspherical III, four shot pano. Think this lens is a little too slow and noisy for MW shots.
Bug in the Sony A7R2 list the last lens used when switching to manual, non-electrical lens.

The great disappointment in our trip was the wildfire smoke. You can't see the beautiful blue color of the lake in this shot.
I have never tried to image this interesting nebula, so I gave it a try. Unfortunately I had terrible guiding with elongated stars. But for me it was worth the try!

Wizard Island is a volcanic cinder cone which forms an island at the west end of Crater Lake in Crater Lake National Park, Oregon. The photo was taken in the early morning.
