Needed to increase wi-fi signal strength on an entry level Gateway laptop bought new in 2010. These new laptops just don't pickup the signal as well as my 2007 Gateway laptop (also entry level model). My signal strength went from 30-40% to 60-80%...not bad at all. I'm happy with it. I bought it for $20.

01/22/2012 Update: This adapter now drops the wireless signal several times a day, requiring me to eject/disconnect the usb and replug it back for it to start working again. Sometimes I would have to wait a minute before plugging it back in, for what I think is an overheating problem, before it will work.
