So we are officially a wireless free home, I mean we have been now for a while but whenever we needed to use the internet outside the basement I had to turn on the wifi briefly. Today I pulled a cable from the basement into the kitchen and tossed the wifi router for good. We have had corded landlines also for almost 2 years now and the cell phones are usually on airport mode when we are home.
What a revolutionary change the wireless would have brought to a relatively isolated community in the 1920s. A new world of communication would open up windows to a bigger world, and great events could be relayed as a broadcast to the people sitting in their own homes listening to their wireless sets in comfort. This has to be the biggest piece of shit router I ever bought. The price was right but the service had me rebooting the thing up to 9 times a day.
