Thanks to all of you!
This lady was on the Steam Train from Pickering to Whitby during the WWII day in 2008. She was traveling with a companion or two who were also dressed for the period.
They did seem rather mysterious............could have been spies I suppose!! One thing was odd, the companion was sitting next to another lady who was also acting verrrrry suspicious. They didn't talk to each other at all but to the trained eye it was quite obvious that they were in cahoots. She didn't know that I was taking her photograph which should have made it all seem rather risky. Nonsence, it wasn't a risk at all due to the fact that I was using the newest surveillance toy.............gulp !!...................I hope that's isn't a derringer she's taking from the makeup bag...!!!!

This one is a tribute to Flickr colors!!!
I made a few changes to the original setup, added a Sunpak 383 as a 2nd flash, changed background... and now using my new EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens.
I just cropped a little of the empty black on the top, it's pretty hard to predict... no crop on width.

This is as good as it gets today. This is Jett looking out the window of my office. There is a chair right beside my chair where I pla...umm WORK and she sits in that chair and looks out the window as long as I'm on the computer. I put up some cheap blinds in there because we are moving soon and I don't want to spend any more money on this house. It took her about a day to figure out a way to make her a "hole" in the blinds so she could see out again. It's just her size too! lol! I've decided to leave it for now, so anytime someone drives by my house they will see this one blind with a hole in it and a little kitty head sticking out. I went outside and snuck up on her while she was watching a bird.

I hired on to shoot for a local racetrack a few years back. It was exciting being in the mix, getting to shoot from wherever I desired. The only problem was when the races were over it was dark except for the track lights and I was expected to photograph the winners in the "Winner's Circle." I was not expecting this. A couple of track employees would run out, hold up a sign behind the car and Pop! Pop! Pop! No direction, no second chances. I was given approximately 45 seconds per car/driver. Of course the lighting was terrible and on camera flash was the best that could be done. I did better than most, but I'm not sure I've ever seen "Winner's Circle" photos taken at night that do not suck.

I tried to get a head on shot of this loco bearing down on the crossing as it entered Pickering Station. Alas a bloke in a yellow jacket quoted the health and safety rule diddlyplonk and told me to move behind the painted line. So this is the "side-on"result.
Big lump of engineering though - very impressive.
From Wikipedia
Built for the LNER in 1937, and the 100th Gresley Pacific built. Her Doncaster Works number was 1863. It was originally numbered 4498. It is a 4-6-2 locomotive to the same design by Sir Nigel Gresley as the more famous Mallard.
Sir Nigel Gresley is the holder for the post-war steam record speed of 112mph gained on the 23 May 1959 and carries a plaque to that effect. As with Mallard's record. this was descending southward from Stoke Summit, but unlike Mallard's run which was a special attempt, this was with a full train of passengers returning from an excursion to Doncaster works. The excursion exceeded 100 mph on two other occasions on the same day. Unfortunately, because of a paper strike at the time, the logs of these are not as accessible as for some other workings. (Nothing changes, eh??)

There was a big storm that night in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil.
3 people died, hundreds of trees broken by the wind, many major avenues flooded.
I've been waiting for a storm like this and trying to capture lightning for a long time!
Several people suggested a cropped version of the original, so here it is.

Since I haven't shot anything this week and because everyone seems to like these bike shots I thought I'd post another. This is also to thank everyone in the Winners Circle group that voted for my shot to be the icon. It was one just like this but not the same bikers, you can see them and others here.
Have a great week, or what's left of it.

A dozen of street dogs flashed before my eyes and lens just once early in the morning. Following the alpha dog barking and running free just like kids playing... Burst Firing, got about 8 pictures from the gang, 3 backlight frames like this one.
Mar Del Plata, Punta Mogotes.
