This is the end result of 13 hunters wing shooting one day in Uruguay. Unlike the passenger pigeon, the Eared Dove of South America, has a highly resiliant and stable population. This allows for some of the words last great wingshooting. The birds are an economic resource for the countries of Argentina and Uruguay, as well as others, and many fields of feed are planted for their benefit. COupled witht he moderate climate and these prolific breeders replace their entire population a couple times a year.
