Makhtesh (Crater) Ramon - is a geological feature of Israel's Negev desert. Located at the peak of Mount Negev, some 85 km south of the city of Beersheba, the landform is not actually an impact crater from a meteor nor a volcanic crater formed by a volcanic eruption, but rather is the world's largest makhtesh. The crater is 40 km long, 2–10 km wide and 500 meters deep, and is shaped like an elongated heart. The only settlement in the area is the small town of Mitzpe Ramon (Ramon Observation Point) located on the northern edge of the crater. Today the crater and surrounding area forms Israel's largest national park, the Ramon Nature Reserve.
The word makhtesh is the Hebrew word for a mortar grinder. The geological landform was given this name, because of its similarity to a grinding bowl.

First class seat, what a view.
Seen at London City Airport, the home of the CityFlyer fleet of Embraer's, ideal for the short runway & steep landing/ take offs required.
As well as the convenience of London City Airport with quicker access to London itself, the airport provides amazing views for departing passengers, you can almost touch the wings from the gates, plus all boarding is done by walkway, there are no airbridges.

I should get back to studying...

Before anyone jumps in and "welcomes" me to Mac, let me first say that I started on an Apple around the same time I did with PCs - that is, back in the days of DOS 5.x. I "upgraded" to Windows 3.1 -> 95 -> 98 -> 2000 -> XP -> Vista -> 7. I also started on Linux around the same time - Slackware v3.0. I'm immensely grateful that my father encouraged me to learn all of the platforms when I was growing up.
This is the first Apple laptop I've purchased since 2001 - back then, it was a Titanium Powerbook G4 (667mhz, 512mb SDRAM, 48gb Ultra ATA HD, DVD ROM -> upgraded to CD-RW/DVD) and the first laptop I've purchased for personal use since my fantastic Thinkpad X61s in 2007 (netbooks, tablets, etc excluded)
I must say, this MacBook Air runs Windows 7 in Parallels/Bootcamp really well ;]

Los Angeles skyline at night view from Griffith Observatory. Griffith Observatory is a great place to take day or nighttime pictures of the skyline of LA. To take this photo I used a 135mm zoom. I cropped the photo with Photoshop to show only the part of Los Angeles that is famous at night. The wallpaper of LA can be viewed by right-clicking the photo and choosing the resolution of your choice.

The flickr improvements make me a bit tired.
My computer is a half year old (windows8) and I have a fast internet connection,
yet half the time I am watching those cute dots.
Often I get that bad-bad-panda picture.
My buddy-icon got lost, I created a new icon.
The commentbox is so small that I can only get two lines of text in.
I'm on flickr for fun but it is (just now?) not very pleasant.
We are currently wrapping one of our algorithms as an application that produces procedural sculptures for 3D printing. The photos show the app running on a Surface Pro 2 tablet.
Many thanks goes to Volksbank Ulm-Biberach which provided us with the tablet. This sponsoring is part of their jubilee project: www.facebook.com/fortschrittbewahren

A great car show at the beginning of last Summer on June 9, 2013. Taken with a POS camera. Edited in Lightroom 4, and Photoshop CS-6. I used NIK Silver Effex Pro to develop my B & W image, of this gorgeous, red, 1964 Pontiac Catalina. The show was at Robert's Dodge, Chrysler in Meriden, CT on Rt. 5.
7 Days of Shooting: Week #20 - Blue. Black & White Wednesday
My mouse lights up blue and red, and my lock screen for Windows 8 is blue and green. A little bit of blue everywhere. :)
I started to get a bit of RSI because of the cheap keyboard I was using and the limitations of my old desk. So I replaced both. I'm also currently working on a new Windows 8 laptop.
The desk is an IKEA BESTÅ. It has nice cable management built in, I was slightly concerned that that might cause an issue with my monitor stand but it was fine.
