Windows through windows. The main window is in a very modern block of flats on the main road out of town.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

I'm rescuing some of the photos from my visit last summer to Spain and the Canary Islands. This is a window in Vegueta, the old part of the city of Las Palmas.

My husband wants me to clarify that we do have backup for all my photos, it's just that I have TOO MANY even for backup, lol...

The Abandoned Sidney Fairbanks House, 1853

Winchendon, Massachusetts

May 19th, 2014

Some info on this historic location in "Toy Town" that will soon be demolished. Tons of more photos will follow. Each room in the house was like stepping into another era, each one very different than the next room.

"The Sidney Fairbanks House was built in ca. 1853 and probably modified in later years to its Second Empire style with mansard roof. It is a three-story dwelling with Italianate details in window consoles, eave brackets and the bracketed wrap porch. A three-story projecting central pavilion has an open porch at the third level under a hipped standing seam, metal roof that hovers over the main house roof."

Window Wednesday

I snapped this photo on Main St. in Trumansburg, NY.

In this mosaic of buildings, the Queensboro Bridge is barely visible in between the high-rise apartments and park-side Brownstones of the Upper East Side, while flanked by the large, modern skyscrapers of Midtown East. (Explored at #120 on 09-02-12)

One of the maining stunning, rustic walls of Montreal's Mount-Royal Plateau.

"The world class, heritage windows are a memorial to Australian and British prisoners of war who died in Sabah – at Sandakan, Ranau or on the death marches – during 1942-1945, and a thanksgiving to the local people who risked, and gave, their lives to help them. A total of 2428 POWs (of whom 1787 were Australian) died at Sandakan or on one of the infamous death marches to Ranau, the bulk of them in 1945. Only six Australians who escaped, survived. All 641 British POWs perished. Many of the prisoners, who were transferred from Singapore by ship, spent the night in the church before marching to the Sandakan compound, 12 kilometres away."
