Wind sock at the Aiyura airstrip

Standing near one of this gigantic wind turbines we can feel his power.

The constant noise made by the turbine blades is just creepy and if got the feeling that at any given moment it is going to cut me in several pieces.

For the first time I felt really small...

'the winds of change are always blowing

and every time i try to stay

the winds of change continue blowing

and they just carry me away.'

"The Wind Blows." by Katherine Mansfield (1915)

Their heads bent, their legs just touching,

they stride like one eager person through the town,

down the asphalt zigzag where the fennel grows wild...

The wind is so strong that they have to fight their way through it,

rocking like two old drunkards.

This poetry is featured in the "Wellington Writers Walk" - A series of large, concrete, typographic ‘text sculptures’ designed by award-winning Wellington typographer and graphic designer Catherine Griffiths. Located at random points along the waterfront, each sculpture contains a quote by a well-known New Zealand writer with strong Wellington connections. The walk makes literature more visible and encourages residents and visitors to be more aware of Wellington's literary heritage.

This is part of my set called "Coolest little capital" which is a stream of photos about the people, places and events in Wellington. I invite you to follow and enjoy the set as it grows and hope that the photos would provide you an idea of what Wellington is like. I will be posting 3 photos at a time. Your comments are most welcomed and appreciated. Hope you like it. Thank you.

Wind farm near Ainsworth, Neb. in the Sandhills is first in the state and has 36 wind turbines.

Lately, I found myself drawn to old mechanical wind-up alarm clocks. I love the crisp ring they make. Surely wakes up a sleepy head!

One of the Wind Turbines just off the North Kent Coast at Herne Bay. Spent a windy afternoon with Bayblast boats visiting the wind farm and the old Maunsell forts, great fun and highly recommended, although you're likely, along with your camera, to get wet!

All the wind turbines should be turbo charged in these blustery conditions we have.

WIND POWER, THE WAY OF THE NEW WORLD

Salento, che jentu...

Wind mills have worked for man for centuries. They identify rural America for most people. They will be a part of future energy solutions, not the answer. These are part of a companys inventory of products they produce.

My winder struck again before I realized it's lack of cooperation wth longer exposures. This was at 1/15 handheld.

My good friend Bryan is pictured in the shot. It was a good time out taking photos.

You can check out his photostream below, it's great stuff.

Some wind power in Inner Mongolia. Only a couple of them were actually going. My co-worker Kwee-Yan and I wanted to go up and look at them but we weren't allowed.
