It was a wild mid-summer night-of-color. One that we see only a
few times a year, usually in the summer when the light intensity is at its brightest. A night when the clouds and light and reflection all align nicely... A wild night like tonight.... sunset ~ Florida Everglades

"There she is! It's Ebba!" Fidelia spoke enthusiastically. Edward saw the little troll and it immediately occurred to him that she had a more serious and somewhat closed face than most fellow baby trolls. Her skin was covered with a natural, brownish camouflage and she was more hairy than others. What especially struck him were the marks on her ears and limbs. They reminded Edward of the wildstripes of wild boar piglets. "Ebba owes her name to its strong relationship with wild boar!" Fidelia continued with her tinkling voice.
"Ebba's name derives from the Swedish Ebbe, which comes from the name Eberhard which stands for "strong bear "meaning of the bear as male wild boar."

YES.... it took _me_ 561 days to complete this project!
* 100 - some rows of knitting
* One month to figure out how to correct a knit row that should have been a purl
* ~186 more rows of knitting
* One pregnancy
* Hunting for gingham fabric (& settling for the polka dots)
* Making the piping by hand (since store brands did not match said polka dot fabric)
* Sewing piping to fabric backing
* Hand stitching the blanket to the backing
* Completing 6 rows of french knots
* Completing 6 rows of running stitch
= 561 Days!
It was like a monkey on my back, but it is done. I purchased this yarn just before I became pregnant with Cole. I'm just happy I finished it before he turns ONE.

i have been working on this wild stripes blanket for months now. like a FOOL i cast on two blankets at the same time, figuring that i would never tackle such an expanse of stockinette again, so i may as well get two done at the same time. this blanket may kill me, and has to be done in the next month or so.
i despair.

This isn't technically the FO pic, but the FO pic was so awful w/r/t color & lighting that this one will have to do!
Knitty's Wild Stripes pattern.
The Wild Stripes blanket from Knitty. Done using the yarn recommended in the pattern, and the only modifications were because of my own gauge issues. The blanket turned out a bit larger than the pattern called for, but still a decent size. I found the embroidery was bunching up the knitted fabric at one point, and so eliminated one line of it, which isn't noticeable at all.
