One of the odd things about Anna's Hummingbirds is that their beautiful crests can iridesce in so many different colors. Typically the iridescence in the feathers is red or deep pink, even though the feathers are actually black, sometimes lighter pink, but occasionally gold or apricot, and as you can see here - olive green.

Though it looks like this osprey is coming in for a landing, it's a young bird just figuring out how to use his/her wings. There was no need to travel far into the back woods to find this nest as it is on top of a light pole in the middle of a Trader Joe's parking lot! It's sibling had already figure out the secrets of flight and made its way to a nearby light pole.

Such majestic birds, we were very fortunate to encounter this African Harrier-Hawk close to the road within the Kruger National Park on safari with Wild Wings Safaris. Awesome.
well, i have such poor equipment to photograph birds, that i was quite happy with these photos. Autofocus is sooo slow in my camera i have to do all manual focus, so i was concentrating like hell to be able to even catch these moments the way i could.
i will invest in something more serious, but didn't decided yet what i will go with.. but i can't wait to have the before...after photos :)

Happy 70 months to Mindy & I! After work, decided to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings since their wings are half off. Gotta love that mango habanero. Pretty crazy, but in about two months, it's going to be six years for us which is really crazy.

I doubt if the Hummingbird sees the caterpillar crawling on the anther of the Sage. I didn't notice it while I was shooting. Best viewed at Original size.

Parenting is not just hormone and pheromone induced nature’s need of procreating, making nest, laying eggs, incubating and then feeding the offsprings to survive and grow. It’s about making them self sufficient for its own survival, food, shelter and making next generation. Birds do it as well as any other species. The Adult Bee Eater refused to share the bee with the Juvenile, almost as big and active as an adult. It wanted it to catch its own meal now onwards and in the end ultimately succeeded in making the Juvenile get its own snacks.
Nature perpetuates.
