I noticed the first birds of the season in the backyard and setup the remote Sony A1 with the Sony 70-200GM ii, triggered via Remote Camera Tool over wifi.
Tuesday morning I walked 3800m along our counter-clockwise route over Mt. Tolmie. The climate changed a bit since the last ice age scoured these striations in the rocks.
NATURAL HISTORY (not anthropogenic):The mottled, grey-coloured bedrock of Mount Tolmie’s summit and surrounding outcrops belong to the Wark gneiss.
This is composed of a variety of rock metamorphosed during the Jurassic period, about 200 million years ago. Signs of the last ice age (that ended about 12,000 years ago) are visible in areas below the summit. Many broken rock faces have fine scratches, called slickensides, and other rock faces have been marked with shallow grooves from the glaciers that moved across their surface.
N.B I last photographed these rocks last year April 25, 2018. Facts never change so the pix are always timely. It's called science. What humans think about it is not a factor. It is what it is. What is a consensus? Many people thinking the same thing.
I'm back home after a spell in hospital and these guys are keeping me amused as always :))
