This Squacco Heron decided to take flight just as I pointed my camera at it!

This little guy.. looks so serious! Studious perhaps? Perhaps he is an author? Maybe a screenwriter (in SL who needs that)? Perhaps a man (dog) of many words? After all how cute can this be?

Who sleeps at night in this little house?
A baby fox or a tiny mouse?
Or is it a hiding place for deer,
Or those living in perpetual fear
Of the hunter to raise his gun,
And thus, the wildlife are on the run...
Or is this little house a trap
To lure them with hay through the gap?
Oh, I do so hope it's just a bed
For all the critters who need a nap!

Southern Boobook (Ninox novaeseelandiae)
This Boobook (Owl) visited the Heathdale - Glen Orden Wetlands on this day in 2018. The Southern Boobook is the smallest and most commonly seen owl in Australia.
Sometimes those that lurk in the background... are the biggest support one can find.... or are they... bloody gnomes broke my shoe and there ~~Matthew~~ is standing in the background... LURKING... not helping...

anyone birders know this breed? It was in Tenby Wales. Update been told it's a rock pipit. Feel free to tell me if it's not

A crane was surprised by a fox. It ended with the fox had to run back into the woods. No one was hurt
Who passed away on March 22, 2022. Recently we have lost many friends to death and I feel that this work explains our emotions somewhat, sadness, love, pain, loss, a big gap and life change.

Heavy marine layer gave a green-grey tint to everything... sky, water, sand... perfectly matching the coloration of this Harbor Seal who seemed to be following me down the beach. Imagination, I know, but when you have the name Selkii...
Taken a few years ago. We used to pass her standing at the gate of an isolated house in the Forest. Not sure whether she was meant to be a guard dog, but if she was, she obviously never got the memo, as she was always happy to see me

....who else, indeed! Melodie went with us yesterday....proudly wearing her cool tee from April...and her darling bow from Rob and Sioux! I love them both! So does Melodie!!!
