Whitewater Falls near Cashiers N.C.

The little lake on the road to nowhere in particular

This turned into a HORRIBLE storm that lasted for hours. Wind-driven torrential rain. Lightning and thunder that pierced one's soul. We rode it out in the dark in our little RV, but were not happy campers. Winter in the desert...

This time I found a pair of interesting barn to compliment the contrasty changing light.

Its a swamp thing missing a moose though

Last week I visited the beautiful valley of river Soca in Slovenia. If you are interested in photography and in nature my clear recommendation is to travel to this destination. This is a first image and I'll upload a few more in order to provide an impression about this hidden beauty. The first image was taken at Lepena river, which flows into Soca.

other shot of my favorite isolated barn. I try to get one from this angle every year but given the shape of the barn that may not be happening very many years future.

Hope to experience some of this in the coming months.

It was cloudy & windy on this morning back in October so it was a bit of a challenge to keep everything in focus here but all in all that Fall color definitely makes up for it. :) -H3

After unloading track material north of Deming, Southwestern Railroad's work train passes the abandoned stock pens at Whitewater en route to Hurley, NM. This location was once an important junction of Santa Fe's mining branches in this southwestern corner of New Mexico, with lines serving Silver City and Tyrone, Hurley, Santa Rita, and Fiero funneling traffic from the various mines in the area to Deming and further on the AT&SF system. Now operated by the Southwestern Railroad, it still retains some of that Santa Fe feel, especially when one of the road's GP30s are in the lead.

Whitewater Falls, North Carolina.

400 foot high Whitewater Falls at sunrise - after arriving a touch late a few days earlier and ending up with some quite harsh photos with deep shadows I made sure to be in location at the lower platform before the sun came up and lit up the falls. The sun was just rising almost directly behind me and the clouds allowed some of the colour to extend round to this view.

I composed this image having hiked to one of the heights bordering the meandering Whitewater River, in California's Whitewater Canyon Preserve.

The Whitewater Preserve is a Wildlands Conservancy nature preserve consisting of 2,851 acres of land in Riverside County, California. It features the perennial Whitewater River flowing through a desert canyon. The preserve is located within the San Bernardino Mountains and is part of the Sand to Snow National Monument.

A 1/10 second exposure of this creek, which runs through the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area, taken during a sunny pause on day of fierce rain. This is just outside Panola Mountain State Park.

The town of Whitewater was on the Belmont branch of the Iron Mountain Railroad in Cape Girardeau county. It was first settled as a town in 1866. and a post office was established in 1890. The town was incorporated in 1898, and the first mayor was P. N. O'Brien. It is named for Whitewater River on which it is located.

I guess I'll call it Whitewater 6, even though it's more about the bridge fence and building.

But I will say HFF.

Like a wild chaos, the flow of water takes shape. As different as the lines of the water may be, they all follow one direction, all follow an overarching force downward. Thus, out of chaos, order emerges once again.

Just digging through last year's fall photos trying to usher in this year's color. I'm tired of this Summer's heat and can't wait for a cool down. Bring it on! ;o) As always, thanks for lookin' and have a great day!

The back of MacArthur Mill is difficult to photograph, for the sightlines are obscured by trees. However, I found a spot by the channel to photograph the scene before the trees would leaf-out.

I called this a channel and not the river because it is human-engineered. It created an island with the river flowing on the other side of the mill. You can see the split in the previously-posted photo that I will put in comments.

By the way, apparently the river has seldom flowed higher than it has this year.
