Not my photo.. Generic potted wheatgrass.
I saw something similar to this in the pet store the other day. Advertised as "pet grass" this little pot of maybe 150 seeds, no more than an ounce or so, before sprouting costs $5-$6. What a ripoff! When you can buy Pounds of the stuff for about $1.50/pound (I spend $2.70 for 2 lbs. at my local health food store) which makes trays and trays of the stuff, people who fall for this should be educated! As for "pet grass," when I'm juicing, I always manage to sloppy on purpose and my dog hangs out waiting for the rewards.
After comparing wheatgrass from four different locations in Kansas, Pines has found the original research by Dr. Schnabel was correct. The fertile mineral-rich glacial soils of northeastern Kansas produce the best quality. Pines uses wheatgrass only from this very special region for our bottles.
We now emphasize that fact on our new labels as well as the name "Pines Wheat Grass" so that consumers will be less likely to accept substitutes. Pines also continues to be the only company to use specially-designed caps and amber glass bottles (never petrochemical plastic) to prevent oxidation and loss of nutrients.
Accept no substitutes. If you can't find Pines Wheat Grass at your local Natural Food Store, it is available online for up to 40% off at:

Because wheatgrass is only at its peak nutritional level for a few days each year, it is imperative that Pines keeps its facility working 24 hours per day during the very short harvest season.
