Many stores and companies that supply Pines' green superfoods are going to be attending the Natural Foods Expo West at the Anaheim Convention Center next week (March 10-13). If you are going to be in there, please stop by Booth 1953 and say hello to the Pines International staff and help us celebrate our 40th Anniversary.

It was 40 years ago that Pines introduced #PinesWheatGrass as the first #greensuperfood to be sold in the natural products marketplace. Since then, dozens of companies have followed our lead. All have copied our message of using the natural nutritional concentration green superfoods to increase the protective benefit of more chlorophyll-rich vegetables in the diet. Unfortunately some have not copies our standards and are not harvesting at the peak nutritional level. Some also package their green foods in plastic containers, which allow the delicate and sensitive nutrients to be devitalized by oxidation.

Only Pines follows the standards established by Charles Schnabel, the father of wheatgrass, in 1937, including packaging in amber glass bottles with special metal caps that allow Pines to remove the oxygen from each bottle to protect against oxidation. The tight-fitting seals in the metal caps also allow the consumer to tightly seal the bottle after each use to keep the product fresh after opening.

Please stop by our booth at the #NPEW and meet our Green Duo Superheroes, Wheatgrass Willie and Alfalfa Allie and try one of our smoothie recipes. We hope to see you there!

This rhizomatous to loosely bunched species is possibly a hybid between thickspike wheatgrass (Agropyron dasystachyum) and bluebunch wheatgrass (Agropyron spicatum). The loosely bunched habit and awned lemmas are from bluebunch wheatgrass and the rhizomatous habit and spike with overlapping spikelets come from thickspike.

Agropyron intermedium var. trichophorum is distinguished by having conspicuously hairy lemmas. The terminal two-sided spike of intermediate wheatgrass is rigid due to the coarseness of the glumes, lemmas, and internodes. The open panicles in this view belong to smooth brome (Bromus inermis). This site lies along the ridgeline at the north end of Burke Park, Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana.

Native, cool-season, perennial, loosely tufted grass with erect or arching stems (especially at maturity) to 1m tall. Here growing just to the east of Dubbo (Central West Slopes of NSW) on a sandy loam. A variable species; plants on good soils produce high quality, palatable green feed in the cooler months, but plants on shallower soils tend to have harsher leaves and produce little feed. Generally only a short lived plant, but can recruit well from seed if needed.

Remnant sagebrush amid cropped and converted agricultural lands. Where sagebrush occurs, the intervening vegetation is mostly a mix of Achillea millefolium (yarrow), Agropyron cristatum (crested wheatgrass), Agropyron dasystachyum (thickspike wheatgrass), Bromus japonicus (Japanese brome), and Chrysothamnus nauseosus (rubber rabbitbrush).

Although well grazed, this area of sagebrush steppe is devoid of cheatgrass even when, as is commonly the case, this annual exotic grass is abundant along the adjacent roadsides.

I'm experimenting with wheat grass for use in the rabbit enclosure part of the installation. I'd like to be able to water it with using the nutrient rich vermiponics water and then use it to supplement the rabbit's diet.

Rangeland in and around cropfields in eastern Montana harbors an abundance of exotic perennial grass species, most notably crested wheatgrass (Agropyron cristatum), smooth brome (Bromus inermis - right), and Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis - second from left). Japanese brome (Bromus japonicus) is somewhat common whereas cheatgrass is much less common (except in and around cropfields presumably as a result of the after effects of herbicide application). Abundant native grasses include prairie junegrass (Koeleria macrantha - left), western wheatgrass (Agropyron smithii - second from right), green needlegrass (Stipa viridula), and needle and thread (Stipa comata). Wyoming big sagebrush steppe and silver sagebrush steppe were likely once a dominant type of vegetation in this area.

Wheatgrass is the miracle plant, google it, it's true!

This perennial bunchgrass is most common along road cuts, probably where it has been planted for soil stabilization.

Agropyron albicans, Montana wheatgrass, has been long-persistent on the Burke Park ridge in east Bozeman, where its two progenitor species are common, Agropyron spicatum (bluebunch wheatgrass) and Agropyron dasystachyum (thickspike wheatgrass). Agropyron albicans (right foreground) has the very loosely bunched rhizomatous habit, persistent florets and glume-length internodes of Agropyron dasystachyum (left foreground) but the long curved lemma awns and relatively glabrous lemmas of Agropyron spicatum (center background). Liatris punctate and Alyssum desertorum are the common herbs (forbs) in this scene.

As a July 2006 fire burns in the distant Larb Hills, much of the vegetation in this region and indeed much of lowland Montana has long been converted to exotic grasses such as crested wheatgrass. Is it thus possible that fire can be "natural" or "restorative"?

Iranian New Year is on March 21st., which of course means it's time to buy some gold fish and wheat grass and hyacinths.

The inflorescence of Elymus flavescence bears distinctly long often yellowish or golden hairs along the main rachis as well as on the backs of the lemmas.

The rhizomatous Intermediate wheatgrass dominates the roadside and to some degree the adjacent sagebrush steppe in an area where it seems Bromus tectorum should be more common than it is. Agropyron cristatum, crested wheatgrass (with the shorter squater terminal spikes), codominates in this area.

Regardless of the degree of disturbance, Bromus tectorum (cheatgrass) is rare to non-existent in this region of sagebrush steppe.

The ligules and auricles are similar to those of wheat although barley tends to produce larger and more conspicuous auricles.

I prefer them to munch on their wheatgrass, rather than my houseplants.

A native rhizomatous wheatgrass, the lemmas are often, but not always, conspicuously hairy in Agropyron dasystachyum, thickspike wheatgrass. This site lies along the ridgeline at the north end of Burke Park, Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana.

This annual grass forms a vast carpet sometimes mixed with introduced annual Amaranthaceae (e.g., Halogeton glomeratus) on the salt flats east of Wendover, Nevada. Looking east towards the Grassy Mountains. This site is sufficiently upland (~1300 m) to suggest that Wyoming big sagebrush once inhabited this area (sagebrush stands occur just to the east).

These two annual grasses form vast carpets on the salt flats east of Wendover, Nevada. Annual wheatgrass is more common on the flats whereas cheatgrass more common on the foothills. Looking generally east towards the Grassy Mountains.

Intermediate wheatgrass flowers by mid summer and can continue to so into late summer, as revealed by these mid August photos.

Even in sagebrush steppe dominated by Artemisia tripartita, which is more resilient to disturbance including fire, cheatgrass is absent, rare, or highly localized to roadsides or to animal disturbances.

Intermediate wheatgrass is the tallest grass alongside the trail. Agropyron cristatum, crested wheatgrass, is the common lighter-green short-statured grass in this photo. This site lies at the top of the trail system of Burke Park, Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana.

After 15 years of hearing from athletes about increased ‪#‎stamina‬ and ‪#‎endurance‬ with faster ‪#‎recovery‬, Pines became the "Official ‪#‎GreenSuperFood‬ for the Kona Ironman Triathlon.".

Pines ‪#‎GreenSuperFoods‬ are convenient and economical ways to add more dark green vegetables to your diet. Chlorophyll-rich foods have been shown to promote vibrant health because they contain important vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and chlorophyll-rich vegetable fiber for colon health. These highly pigmented foods also help the body to produce ‪#‎NitricOxide‬.

Many top performing athletes have praised Pines Green ‪#‎Superfoods‬::

Greg Welch Kona ‪#‎Ironman‬ ‪#‎Triathlon‬ Champion said: "My training schedule doesn't leave much time to worry about daily ‪#‎nutrition‬. I also realize there are no shortcuts, so I depend on Pines to help make up for what my diet is missing. I can feel the difference.

Recently retired, Hobie Call won of 37 of 46 ‪#‎Spartan‬ Races along with three World Championships. Hobie said: "The health required to continually win races as brutal as these is great. I contribute that to Pines' ‪#‎WheatGrassPowder‬ more than anything else I eat."

After turning professional at the age of 19, Clark Campbell became one of the most consistent top-10 finishers. According to Clark, "My daily servings of ‪#‎PinesWheatGrass‬ help me recover from my workouts and keep me at my peak performance level."

1 wheatgrass shot (20ml) = 1 KG of vegetables. I am surprised !

An awn from the lemma tip, which is recurved at maturity, is most commonly present where the grass is native. If the awn is lacking, as in variety inerme, this might reflect the results of reseeding efforts.

I take 1 tbsp of this in water 30 minutes before #bodycombat and #rpm

Mighty Greens contains #wheatgrass, #alfalfa leaf, #hemp protein and a touch of stevia, all certified organic and all Non-GMO Project Verified!

Only 30 calories for that tbsp, 3 grams dietary fiber, 2 grams protein.

Thanks @wheatgrass_people for making Mighty Greens Superfood Blend! I love it!

As always, #ckscooking :-)

CK likes Mighty Greens because it helps with her workouts but she also knows that research clearly shows that those who eat plenty of dark green leafy vegetables protect themselves against the degenerative diseases that are running rampant in today's society.

A spoonful of #MightyGreens in a glass of water, #juice or #smoothie provides the equivalent of a generous serving of #kale or #spinach. It's a convenient and economical way to increase your daily intake of dark green #vegetable nutrition.

Mighty Greens is not a "kitchen sink" blend of dozens of inexpensive vegetables in a plastic tub or paper packet. Instead, it is a simply two powerful dark green, leafy superfoods with additional #PlantBasedProtein from hemp and stevia for flavor.

Unlike any other Kansas green superfood company, our farms and facilities are not an "organic sideline" for a pesticide-based agribusiness, and unlike others, we are #vegan friendly and have never produced animal feed for the confined animal, factory-farming meat industry.. Instead, our family farms are 100% certified organic and 100% Non-GMO Project Verified.

Pines is the original #GreenSuperfood company, established 40 years ago. We are also the only green superfood company that packages in amber glass bottles with special metal caps, which allow us to remove the oxygen from each bottle to prevent the rapid deterioration of nutrition that occurs with cheaply packaged products in plastic tubs and paper packets.

Eat more green for #health, #stamina and #endurance. If Mighty Greens is not available at your store, please order online at wheatgrass.com for up to a 40% off.

Bluebunch wheatgrass is typically the tallest and most loosely bunched of the abundant bunchgrasses in steppe vegetation on the east side of the Big Belt Mountains and generally in Montana steppe vegetation (e.g., compared to prairie junegrass and Idaho fescue).

The sagebrush steppe in this region of southeast Oregon is sporadically prone to colonization to high levels of cover by Bromus tectorum. In sites such as these where crested wheatgrass (left of center) and Sandberg's bluegrass are abundant, cheatgrass is essentially absent. Native forb diversity and cover is very low.

A burrowing owl along Lincoln Blvd, Idaho National Laboratory, Butte County, Idaho, where it merges with highway 33 at the north end. In this area, Agropyron cristatum is common along roadsides especially for green stripping. Here, this seemingly monodominant bunchgrass community is prone to immigration by native shrubs and forbs, including the shrubby to subshrubby winterfat, Krascheninnikovia lanata, and Gardner's saltbush, Atriplex gardneri.

The flowering heads or spikes of Hordeum jubatum readily shatter or disarticulate by late summer. The unit of disarticulation is a node comprising the three spikelets, the central one only being seed containing. The auricle is not well developed in Hordeum jubatum. This site lies along South 7th Avenue adjacent to the Bobcat Stadium, Bozeman, Montana.
