don't wanna be the parenthetical, hypothetical

working onto something that I'm proud of, out of the box

an epoxy to the world and the vision we've lost

Not a lot of words to go with this one; been a very full week for the Lord Winter and I'm simply... staying right here. Unlike my best friend who was called to join The Mothership this week.

Do yourself a favour Berry and don't ever tap into my logs, okay? Just... trust me.

This is the Chair for One from Wrong at the Man Cave which opened the other day. I have the fatpack version which is worth it if you've been mulling it over - 20 bento anims all on four different textures. Nothing but the gold for me, natch. It's a good spot for me to sit and count down the hours until Avengers:Endgame. At the time of posting I have 94 hours 55 minutes 17 seconds until my ticket time.

Apparently Lily was on silly pills this day, after her breakfast she climbed a tree, walked on top the fence, jumped on the neighbors house, got down and finished off with getting a drink of water from the birdbath before going off into the morning. Honestly she has a bowl of fresh water.

Happy Monday and best wishes to all for the upcoming new year!

You take me to the top

I'm ready for whatever it takes

'Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins

I do what it takes

I've had the highest mountains

I've had the deepest rivers

You can have it all but not till you move it

I am just happy to be sitting here quietly working on my own stuff, instead of client work.....now if only it would rain.

Longhorns Locker Room, Austin

It has not been a very happy new year for my family. My sister was diagnosed with cancer on Jan. 1. She's very sick and in a lot of pain. I cannot imagine exactly what she's going through, but... suddenly, my work deadlines don't seem important at all.

Instead, I am spending my time on the one thing I can do to help my sister: being her advocate. Finding information. Oiling up my metaphorical machete and hacking through the frustrating horrible jungle of medical and other bureaucracies.

Meantime, her other friends and family members are stepping up too. And... clearly... this is what you do when someone you care about is dealing with something awful. I was relieved and happy to hear my sister say this morning that she's ready and willing to accept and appreciate the support we all want to give her.

It's awful to be thinking selfish thoughts at a time like this, but... even though my initial response was to lump Flickr and photography in general in with all the other things I suddenly consider "not important any more"... I've realized that I need support, too. And as sad and pathetic as this may be, Flickr is a big part of my personal support system.

So here I am. Feeling kind of vulnerable and naked. And wanting... to a large extent... to just go away and hide and deal with this (as animals do when they're hurt) in dark quiet privacy.

But we have barely begun this journey. And I have to be strong for my sister. The last thing I need to be doing right now is giving up on things that bring me joy and peace.

The hardest thing for me right now is focusing on work. I know I have to do it but... dang, it just seems totally irrelevant.

Anyway, please excuse my whining. And be warned that future posts may be soaked with anger, or frustration, or just plain sadness.

I want to believe that staring down death will bring us all closer to... I don't know. Life, I guess. Regardless, it certainly does put things in perspective.

Sudden rainstorm moves in on Brewgrass Festival on S. Pearl Street in Denver. Whatever it takes to get that beer!!

And I got paid for this. See how committed I am? Risking my life to get the shot that our graphic designer wanted? Rob came along for the ride and snapped this. Makes me laugh.

Hey what can I say...I'm a wanker!

& it's all in a good cause
