Happy New Year fellow dog lovers!

We've been lucky enough to get to enjoy a bit of snow... before the dreaded Polar Vortex came to ruin all the winter fun. These two grays love to run as fast as they can through the snow. They have so much fun, but can't stay out for too long as they have tiny furs!

I was pretty impressed with this shot considering that I was the one throwing the snowballs & taking the pictures!!!

#54 on Explore!!!!

mukha suddenly expressed some interest in this innertube. it was in the water by the dock and she kept reaching her little hands out for it but it kept floating away when she touched it. the innertube seems tough, but we didn't know if we wanted her on it (have you seen her talons?) our neighbor just recently gave the innertube to us and it's really comfortable and relaxing, so we don't want her to pop it. she kept gently reaching out for it so we finally decided to hold it still for her so she could get on. she just got on it and sat right in it! it was so funny and of course i thought 'i should get my camera' but i thought she probably wouldn't stay there that long and also the camera i'm using is so automatic and it never takes good pictures in evening light without a flash. i grabbed it anyway and amazingly and totally unexpectedly, it did ok. and she sat in the tube for a long time! so here are some more pictures of her little adventure ;)

This is his "I need a hug" look!!

We've got a couple of patriotic pups over here - really they are just being patriotic for their treats!

Little miss Lexi girl turned 5 on the 3rd. Everyone celebrated her birthday in the neighborhood with fireworks but they forgot she is terrified of them so it wasn't a fun celebration for her. Poor girl. She got lots of extra love to make up for it though.

We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far!

Our anniversary is in May (11 years) so we decided to celebrate by going on a camping trip. We have a tear drop camper... and for those of you that know what that is, please picture all four of us in it! It was a clown car, but we had a great time!

The pups clearly enjoyed themselves to the point of exhaustion and Louie actually cuddled with his sister. So that's a thing that happened... once!

Lexi thinks louie makes a good pillow!

a closer look at the the earlier shot of our dogs sleeping...this is hector lying flat on his back. that's his foot in the background.

My weims have no shortage of expressive gripes, and they let us know repeatedly when we are not meeting their standards😉

i found a wild mukha zebra lounging by the window in my bedroom today :)

mukha was so happy that the sun was out today after 8 days of rain and wind.

thanks everyone for the feedback. i replaced the one above with the lighter version and put the darker one below, in case people read the comments and wonder..

You can't tell it in the picture but during this hike Lexi ran into the woods (nothing new there and we allow her to do it. As soon as we call her name, she's right back by our sides). This time though she got punctured by a stick in her lower leg. The wound was really deep but not very large. There was quite a bit of blood but Lex didn't act fazed by it at all! In fact she paid it no attention. We were standing in this spot deciding if we should turn back around, or if my husband should try and drive the Jeep back here to pick us up. I snapped this quick picture because I really liked the lighting. After being "sharked" by both dogs for about the third time we decided she was fine to finish the hike. The blood had clotted pretty quickly.

Lexi ended up needing three staples, which she promptly ate out of her leg after destroying her cone in less than 24 hours. Yes I said ATE!

These cones never work! Does anyone else have these same problems?

Anyway, Lexi's leg is looking amazing. She was on antibiotics and my husband and I had to clean the (open) wound out twice a day.

Sembra un po' la fotografia tombale di una cabarettista della Repubblica di Weimar... sarà il cimiteriale charme della DivinOvina? :D

Lou and Lex clean up nicely, so much so it makes me want to call them by their full names: Louis Gray and Lexington Gray, my beautiful girl and handsome boy! See below for an outtake. :)

..because.. the ball i have is so much better than the one she has ;)

mukha playing at the dog park

avanti press licensed this photo of mukha for xmas cards this year! i wasn't going to post anything about it until at least after halloween, but, i just found out they're already out !! someone just emailed me saying she bought some at cracker barrel today and asked if i sold box sets of them! yaay!!

Kia earned her "RN" (Rally Novice) title today! We got a score of 94 (out of 100) & she was 3rd highest scoring dog .

It was an extremely LONG day, but well worth it. We left the house at 8:15am to be at the competition by 10am & due to some complications we didn't get into the ring until after 4pm. Kia met some new friends - 3 Corgies & 2 Standard Poodles. Yankee was her favorite - He is a 3 yr old Corgie & so sweet. They had a BLAST playing in the off-leash park while we waited for our turn to compete.

When we were all done (as if she hadn't had enough going on today) I took her to the Pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin & get some Fall photos of her. This is one of my favorites.

finally, i got her just in the sky, and her whole body in the shot!

Ivy discovered that she's tall enough to easily get on top of the kennels. I thought she fit in nicely with the murals.

normally he can curl up his entire body on this chair but we just got back from a short walk in the afternoon heat and he was exhausted.

rudolph is a christmas decoration that hector adopted. he's been through so much--stuffing replacement, leg surgery, head reattachment....

he is hector's favorite stuffed friend!

well, this morning rupert took him hostage for a brief time. as you can see here, rudolph wasn't going anywhere fast.

Happy Halloween! Louie and Lexi used to love getting dressed up to help us humans pass out candy to the kids and doggie biscuits to the neighbor pups but now that we moved out to the "country" we don't get trick or treaters... so no more dressing up - except we did still have some fun tonight to get into the Halloween spirt!

We've had one of the weirdest weather years I can remember in Calgary, all starting from that freeze last year which kept all the trees green (and frozen) for months during the fall.

That being said, every once in a while a perfect day arrives and I'm so glad I was able to capture not only the day but a ton of happy puppies.

I think I could make a habit of playing with and photographing puppies.
