El Monumento a los judíos de Europa asesinados (en alemán, Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas), también conocido como Holocaust-Mahnmal o Monumento del holocausto, es un monumento que recuerda en Berlín a los judíos víctimas del holocausto.
Fue diseñado por el arquitecto Peter Eisenman y por el ingeniero Buro Happold. Se trata de un campo inclinado de 19 000 metros cuadrados cubierto por una rejilla cuadriculada en la que están situadas 2711 estelas o losas de hormigón. Estas losas tienen unas dimensiones de 2,38 m de largo y 0,95 m de ancho, y varían en cuanto a su altura, desde los 0,2 m a los 4,8 m. De acuerdo con el proyecto de Eisenman, las estelas están diseñadas para producir una atmósfera incómoda y confusa, y todo el monumento busca representar un sistema supuestamente ordenado que ha perdido contacto con la razón humana. Con todo, en un folleto turístico oficial editado en 2005 por la Fundación del Monumento, se afirma que el diseño representa una aproximación radical al concepto tradicional de monumento funerario, en parte porque Eisenman no usa ningún tipo de simbolismo. Un subterráneo anexo denominado Ort der Information (Punto de información) contiene los nombres de todas la víctimas judías del holocausto conocidas, obtenidos del museo israelí Yad Vashem.
La construcción del monumento se inició el 1 de abril de 2003 y fue terminado el 15 de diciembre de 2004. Fue inaugurado el 10 de mayo de 2005 y se abrió al público el 12 de mayo del mismo año. Está situado una manzana al sur de la Puerta de Brandeburgo, en el suburbio berlinés de Friedrichstadt, y al costado de donde alguna vez estuvo el "Reichspraesidentenpalais", residencia de los presidentes de la era Weimar.
La periodista alemana Lea Rosh fue la principal impulsora del monumento. En 1989, fundó un grupo para apoyar su construcción y para recolectar donaciones. Con un apoyo creciente, el Bundestag aprobó una resolución en favor del proyecto. (Wikipedia)

La teoría de la Gestalt son un conjunto de principios desarrollados en la Escuela Bauhaus (1) a partir de la corriente de la Psicologia de la Gestalt que analiza y explica la manera en cómo captamos el mundo que nos envuelve y nuestra tendencia a percibir las relaciones entre los distintos elementos en su totalidad y como la mente de manera innata tiende a percibir patrones y formas simplificando la información.
Las leyes de Gestalt proponen un planteamiento holistico de la percepción visual. Su relevancia tanto en diseño gráfico como en fotografía reside en sus leyes organizativas sustentando la mayoría de los principios en la composición de imágenes.

*La Teoría o Psicología de la Gestalt, fue un movimiento que se inició en la década de 1920 en Berlín, Alemania. Gestalt es una palabra alemana que significa patrón, figura o forma. Este movimiento buscaba encontrar un sentido a cómo nuestras mentes perciben las cosas como un todo, en lugar de individualmente cada elemento.
La corriente estudiaba cómo nuestra mente configura, mediante ciertas leyes o principios básicos, los elementos que llegan a ella a través de los canales sensoriales o de la memoria. Demostraron que nuestro cerebro siempre va a intentar simplificar y organizar imágenes complejas, porque está preparado para comprender mejor el mundo que nos rodea.
La frase “El todo es mayor que la suma de las partes” se utiliza a menudo para explicar la Teoría de la Gestalt.
Las leyes de la Gestalt, para la psicología de la Gestalt, son una serie de reglas que explican el origen de las percepciones a partir de los estímulos. Existen múltiples reglas particulares, que se fundamentan en dos reglas generales: la ley de buena forma y la ley de figura y fondo.

El Pabellón de Barcelona, diseñado por Mies van der Rohe, fue el edificio de representación de Alemania en la Exposición internacional de Barcelona celebrada en el año 1929. Concebido como espacio representativo para albergar la recepción oficial presidida por el rey Alfonso XIII a las autoridades alemanas,1 el edificio pretendía simbolizar el carácter progresista y democrático de la nueva República de Weimar y su recuperación tras la Primera Guerra Mundial.
Este edificio constituye uno de los hitos en la historia de la arquitectura moderna, al ser una obra donde se plasman con particular rotundidad y libertad las ideas del entonces naciente Movimiento Moderno, y está considerado por muchos autores como una de las cuatro piezas canónicas de la arquitectura del movimiento moderno junto con el edificio de la Bauhaus de Gropius, la villa Saboya de Le Corbusier y la Casa de la cascada de Wright.
El pabellón fue desmantelado tras la exposición en 1930, y reconstruido posteriormente en la década de los 80 en su ubicación original, en el actual barrio de Montjuic, donde permanece abierto al público.

Weims Castle
Weims Castle was built in the 14th century. It was first mentioned in 1334. By his marriage in 1408, the castle passed into the hands of the von Weims family before becoming the property of the von Hirtz family in 1524, again by marriage.
The castle was partially destroyed during the Thirty Years' War, after which it was rebuilt.
In 1755, castle Weims got its current appearance.
The castle is currently owned by the Miessen family. They had a thorough restoration carried out in 1989 - 1990 with respect for the past.

Kasteel Weims werd gebouwd in de 14e eeuw. Het werd in 1334 voor het eerst vermeld. Door zijn huwelijk in 1408 kwam het kasteel in handen van de familie von Weims om in 1524, weer door huwelijk, eigendom te worden van de familie von Hirtz.
Het kasteel werd gedeeltelijk verwoest tijdens de Dertigjarige Oorlog, waarna het werd opgebouwd.
in 1755 kreeg kasteel Weims zijn huidig uiterlijk.
Het kasteel is momenteel in bezit van de familie Miessen. Zij lieten in 1989 – 1990 een grondige restauratie doorvoeren met eerbied voor het verleden.

For those of you keeping track, yes I completely abandoned the seasonal prop idea. My bad! I love when the pups snuggle with their heads together. I get a big smile every time it happens.
Hard to believe this girl turned 8 this month! I’m refusing to believe it! We took her camping this past weekend and fully spoiled her! She got a new toy and bandana and a trip to the doggy bakery. Also one on one time with her mom and dad! She’s such a good girl. Also on the July list was being skunked! Can’t believe we haven’t had this happen before now. She was a trooper while we bathed her for 2.5 hours! And yes, she still smells and we still took her camping!
I was pretty impressed with this shot considering that I was the one throwing the snowballs & taking the pictures!!!

Taken up the skifield road above Lake Ohau, New Zealand. Made several attempts to get young iDA on this rock but she was far too busy hOOning round the hillside after being confined to lead walks for the last couple of days due to proximity of campsite to road. Meanwhile the old fella - who i didn't want to climb up there - as usual did his best to oblige my photo request. So ToSH is in the first shot - later helped down - & i eventually managed to get a few of the busy lady up there which i think capture her magnificence & joy of liFe ...

We've been lucky enough to get to enjoy a bit of snow... before the dreaded Polar Vortex came to ruin all the winter fun. These two grays love to run as fast as they can through the snow. They have so much fun, but can't stay out for too long as they have tiny furs!
Our April has been filled with lots of family time and snuggles. I’ve really been enjoying it actually but also feeling guilty for it. I know we are healthy and have it much luckier than many people. We are still employed (for now) and not having that huge financial worry is making it much easier to enjoy this slow time. My heart is with everyone who is struggling to make ends meet or who have had to close their small owned business. We have been trying to support our local companies as often as possible, ordering take out (my tastebuds are loving it) and buying product online when that option is available. Sending everyone well wishes, love and puppy snuggles. #inthistogether

mukha suddenly expressed some interest in this innertube. it was in the water by the dock and she kept reaching her little hands out for it but it kept floating away when she touched it. the innertube seems tough, but we didn't know if we wanted her on it (have you seen her talons?) our neighbor just recently gave the innertube to us and it's really comfortable and relaxing, so we don't want her to pop it. she kept gently reaching out for it so we finally decided to hold it still for her so she could get on. she just got on it and sat right in it! it was so funny and of course i thought 'i should get my camera' but i thought she probably wouldn't stay there that long and also the camera i'm using is so automatic and it never takes good pictures in evening light without a flash. i grabbed it anyway and amazingly and totally unexpectedly, it did ok. and she sat in the tube for a long time! so here are some more pictures of her little adventure ;)
