These plants grow very close to the ground. When you step on them they give off a wonderful aroma. Right now they are blooming on many of the walking trails at Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve.

I have seen this plant in "Weed" books. I consider the term "weed" a political term. Plants become a weed when they become pests. I do not consider this a weed. It's a lovely ground cover plant.

These are my weeding tools. The two on the left - a dandelion puller and a Cape Cod weeder - I use all the time. The trowels are mostly for planting. The claw is for removing dead grass leftover from winter (and voles' nests.) The two with wooden handles are by DeWit - highly recommended. The trowels are from Corona - very good. The dandelion puller is generic. I just liked the handle. Lots of leverage - which might be why it is slightly bent now.

marlboros, weed, hello kitty lighter

There is a really nice patch of "weed" flowers in the yard, in addition to all of the dandelion, thyme and strawberry blossoms. Unfortunately, I kept screwing up basic flower shots like this one — my DIY flash diffuser got into this shot! Created a nice little mess which I'm not sure if my "clean up" actually helped. I guess if you can't notice it, then it did help. :)

Perhaps not weed actually but it grown just like weed at least

Goes without sayin', doesn't it?

It's been school holiday time so I've made a determined effort to get my garden ready for the Open Garden in December. Miki inspects the latest work.
