This cake was a referral from Fran. This couple was just gorgeous. Both of them just so very lovely. It was such a pleasure to deal with them. The cake was delivered to the venue (which is 5 minutes from Fran's house) this morning [Thursday 5/3/09].

Fran came around to help me set up, and take this gorgeous photo.

I just love how it turned out. It is a replica of this cake, which was the very first cupcake tower I ever made for another lovely girl, who is now expecting a bub :)

The topper is a dark choc mud cake filled with dark chocolate ganache. The cupcakes are half lemon scented white chocolate mud cake, and the other half, caramel mud cake. All topped with french butter cream. The hearts are fondant, piped in royal icing, and painted with gold.

I think this version is a lot neater than the original.

Another of my shots from my friends' wedding on Friday, that I admit I am most happy with!

As the bride and groom listen to toasts, we see their wedding cake.

I’m probably one of the few straight men who is going to wake up at 2am in order to watch the Royal Wedding broadcast live on The Royal Channel on Youtube. I guess part of me wants to see what a real big-budget wedding is like. But the other part of me actually wants to watch a piece of history. I remember the previous Royal Wedding of Charles & Di back in 1981. I remember my mom watching it on TV and asked if she was watching a parade or something. Never paid any attention to it but I knew it was a big deal back then.

Will you watch it?

Here we are.........the happy couple, out in the rose garden on the day we got married.

You can't tell from this shot, but it was HOT, HOT, HOT! This was around 1 in the afternoon, and I think temps were topping out at around 103 degrees....poor Larry must have been ready to die in that suit!

maternity wedding dresses

.... this design was the wife Jan's idea!

She thought that the gentleman depicted in these symbols on our national road warning signs for the elderly looked just like her husband ..... and indeed she's quite right !!! She said "it will give all our friends a good laugh and may encourage Freddie to stand more upright" !!!!

This should have been a relatively easy cake to do but as is so often the way with "easy" cakes it was a disaster! The fondant was a nightmare, I didn't have a matching numerical font to the letters, the mexican paste wouldn't dry and when they were on the cake the figures' legs started to curl up!

The only saving grace was the lovely diamante trim Lorraine (extra icing) sent me!

The silver letters were "twinkled" but this doesn't show on the photo.

When I took it out to the venue the restaurant manager was in a very bad mood and stuck the cake table in the far corner of the room (perhaps under the circumstances no bad thing!)

At least the couple loved it and that's all that matters!!!

Rich fruit cake with marzipan and fondant icing.
