Justin Tranter of Semi Precious Weapons after he jumped off stage and ran down the center aisle of the "Fabulous Fox." He was only lit by the spot from high in the balcony, but a little overexposure/blowout let some details through.

Out of the hundreds of bands I phototgraph every year, Semi Precious Weapons are still my favorite subjects. From sweaty basement dives to sold-out arenas and the Gilded Halls of the Fox Theater on Lady Gaga's Fame Tour, SPW bring the rock show.

These are just a few of the many styles of tire thumpers truckers use to check their tire pressure. A high-pitched thump means it's full of air. A low-pitched thump means your air pressure is low.

Naturally, a tire pressure gauge is more accurate, but tire thumper works great for day-to-day checks. It always doubles as one of the only feasible weapons we can keep in our truck.

A gift from a close friend, made by a local smith he knows. It's a rondel dagger with a triangular section blade, made in damascened (pattern welded) steel. Here, the blade and the guard with copper inlays can be seen.

Last week I had the pleasure of chasing down L.A. filming locations with the great Chas Demster, creator of itsfilmedthere.com.

This train crossing was used in the 1998 action movie "Lethal Weapon 4" (top).

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. (Oct. 9, 2014) -- Department of Defense officials honored 45 Army Civilians in a ceremony Oct. 8 who voluntarily deployed to the Mediterranean Sea to destroy Syria's declared chemical weapons stockpile.

U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center mission commander Tim Blades got up from his seat and walked across the stage without looking at the handful of DOD stakeholders sitting to his left. He didn't look out to the nearly 500 friends, families and colleagues sitting offstage to his right either. When he reached the podium, he looked only at the 45 honorees sitting in the front rows.
