What do you mean the Imperial Armada didn't have shock troopers?! Haven't you read, like, uhhhh, a history book before?!
Somewhat inspired by the character classes of Team Fortress 2 (especially the tank/heavy), even though I've never played it.
Adazi, Latvia - Pennsylvania National Guard Soldiers participated in a joint live fire exercise with Lithuanian Soldiers. The Soldiers are deployed to Latvia as part of U.S. Army in Europe's multinational security exercise Saber Strike. Justin Tranter of Semi Precious Weapons after he jumped off stage and ran down the center aisle of the "Fabulous Fox." He was only lit by the spot from high in the balcony, but a little overexposure/blowout let some details through.
Out of the hundreds of bands I phototgraph every year, Semi Precious Weapons are still my favorite subjects. From sweaty basement dives to sold-out arenas and the Gilded Halls of the Fox Theater on Lady Gaga's Fame Tour, SPW bring the rock show.

Soldiers complete a weapons qualification range as part of the III Corps Soldier and NCO of the Year competition at Fort Hood, Texas July 22.
It only appeared in a small handful of scenes on ST:TNG, but it has always stuck in my head as a wonderfully pointless and obscure prop made to be forced into scenes to fit a specific dramatic scene with no regard for the race it was linked too.
Ahhhh well, Resistance is futile...

My D3 and 80-200mm f/2.8 combo, sitting on a Really Right Stuff BH-55 ballhead. I've got a 1.4x Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 teleconverter between the lens and body. I was used to the 1.5x crop factor of my D1x, so I use the teleconverter to get a similar feel.
This setup is just about perfect for the kind of photography I like to do, and now I don't have any excuses for bad photos from this point on :)

This Mech was a test of weapons systems. When not needed missiles and a large laser cannon are hidden, folded behind the back.
This sort of random filming location is from the 1998 "Lethal Weapon 4" movie. This is actually an on ramp, not an off ramp, to the 105 freeway in El Segundo. The crazy thing is that this ramp is right across the street from where I work, and I have been taking this ramp everyday for the past 15 years. I finally took the time to walk across the street at lunch time to take these photos.
A gift from a close friend, made by a local smith he knows. It's a rondel dagger with a triangular section blade, made in damascened (pattern welded) steel. Here, the blade and the guard with copper inlays can be seen.
