The Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Villes Lumières collection invites us on a nocturnal flight above cities alive with creativity. Each dial, draped in deep enamel, becomes a bird’s-eye tableau shimmering with precious powders—an art never before seen in Haute Horlogerie.
Here, grand feu champlevé enamelling, passed down for nearly three centuries, meets the delicate hand of Japanese artist Yoko Imai, who distils gold, platinum, pearl and diamond powder onto the enamel, particle by particle. These luminous grains form constellations of light, tracing rivers, avenues and landmarks with striking realism. As light shifts, the dial comes alive, echoing the vibrant pulse of great cities.
After celebrating Geneva, Paris, New York, Beijing and Tokyo, the collection now turns to Sydney. For me, as someone who lives here, this is profoundly moving: to see my city—its harbour, Opera House and bridge—immortalized in such artistry is both personal and poetic.
Behind this spectacle beats a refined in-house mechanical movement, finished to the highest traditions of Haute Horlogerie. More than a watch, it is a luminous tribute to cities of light, and for me, a celebration of home.
