Not wanting to come right home after her treatment folks, she likes to take a ride to anywhere to unwind, and cannot blame her for that, but sometimes getting an image like this guy is worth the effort, you never know what you'll find on the back roads.

I have been wanting to take a picture like this for a long time. Went back to Hobbs this past weekend for our 50th class reunion and all the conditions were perfect. Had to leave the dance early to get up the following morning to catch the sunrise but it was worth it to me :) This represents the culture I was raised in back in the 60's and is still going on today. One of the largest oil deposits in the US is located right where I grew up!

Bald eagle fishing there along the Susquehanna River. Amazing to see these eagles all in action there along the river.
One of the reasons for wanting to visit the Hirshhorn was to see the Yayoi Kasuma exhibit. I love her work and I've been a big fan since I missed her Infinity Mirrors tour that kicked off at the Hirshhorn back in 2017. A year later we did travel to Cleveland and I saw the exhibit there. There's always something new or rearranged to see as is the case here where the polka dot pumpkin got its own polka dot room which proved to be an ideal place for the selfie seekers! This person wandered about endlessly while I stood by waiting for her to finish up. She knew I was waiting but just kept posing this way and then that way with a light stick in one hand and a phone in the other. When I saw this, the wait was over, I got my pumpkin shot.
Yayoi Kasuma's "Pumpkin (2016) has been at the Hirshhorn since the "Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors" exhibition kicked off its US tour at the Hirshhorn back in 2017 and was on display outside. It was nice to see it exhibited in it's own room. In addition, there were two other rooms, both acquisitions by the Hirshhorn. Kusama’s 2017 reimagining of "Phalli’s Field (2017)", that first debuted in 1965 and a new acquisition, “My Heart is Dancing into the Universe (2018),” I have to admit the exhibit lacked any substantial representation from her other art forms and paintings but I enjoyed my time wandering about infinity and I would still go back again and again and again...

I've been wanting to try out my new 10 stop ND filter since I got it a couple of weeks ago. It's been raining a lot but on Monday, the forecast was for cloudy in the morning and raining in the afternoon. So I very quickly grabbed all my gear, checked the tides, and headed out to Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver. When I set up my tripod, I realized I had brought the wrong lens! I packed up my 50mm portrait lens instead. I tried the filter and luckily it fit and I figured it would just have to do. Then it started really pouring rain - that wasn't supposed to happen! I tried to protect my lens and filter from the rain and managed to get a couple of shots in. There were birds flying around and ducks landing and taking off in the water, but none of them show up here, and I wasn't going to add a bird (this time :) ). Anyway, I rushed back up to the car, put the tripod on the roof while I was putting everything away in the downpour and took off. You guessed it, I left the tripod on the roof, but it let me know after a few feet of driving and I was able to retrieve it. At least I was able to spend a little bit of time out in nature and I discovered I really do like my new filter :)

Wanting to see the sunrise for once, I got up early and was greeted by this sight. Amazing morning light.
I've been wanting to do something like this for a while.The birds pick out these, I guess some type of snail that lives in these shells in my canal. I see them all the time. What's great about this photo is the little tree behind it. were actually right up the stairs on the second floor..
I’ve been wanting a chance to photograph this barn for many years now. It was down a residential farm road with strict no trespassing signs posted on the gate. Well, recently they must have sold the land to developers as the gates are torn down and they are clearing the fields to make way for new homes. This barn is one of the last remaining signs of life on these acres of land. I’ve been going pretty much every night hoping for a good sunset.

Not wanting to flood you all with a tidal wave of NSW outback photos, I figured it was time to switch things up. So here’s a little something from the other side of the globe—this is the stunning Athabasca River in Alberta, Canada, hands down one of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever set foot. No photo can capture its pristine, majestic beauty (though I gave it my best shot, best 100 shots actually ;)
Canada’s west is the kind of place where you want to take your time, soak it all in, and not just rush around cramming as much as possible into a short trip. One day, I’d love to go back and do just that!

East New York is one of the most economically deprived sections of Brooklyn and, along with Bed-Sty, Brownsville, and Bushwick, one of the most dangerous. Being surrounded by several up and coming neighborhoods, including Williamsburg and Boreum Hill, the decline and decay appear more brutal, a drag on the human spirit, until you walk past one of the storefront churches along Atlantic Avenue on a Sunday morning and hear the gospel music wanting to burst out of those deteriorating doors.

Just wanting to blend in. Shot through my window. I see the difference between this one and my other rabbit that showed up, this one has bigger back feet and smaller ears. It has been a cold Spring so far. Did you know rabbits eat Spruce and Jack pine tree needles? This is the second time I witnessed it.
For anyone wanting to shoot dew drops, early morning light is a must. Take a mat or something you can lay on without getting wet. You will need to shoot in manual mode as the camera will never figure out to focus on the waterdrops. settings were f/3.5, exposure 1/2500, ISO 200,focal length 30mm. no flash. try to put the sun to your south east for good sunlight rays and sparkles. good luck

The lucky kind of people that never seem to stop smiling even when their skies are gray. It's not that they are actually smiling all the time,
but their facial features make them seem that way....

Adding some context here as at first glance, this looks horrendous!!
Nubia's two cubs were fighting. She'd been trying to get them to suckle but they just wanted to grab at each other so she grabbed one whilst the other was still biting their sibling. It made for riveting watching... mama wanting them to focus on feeding and her incredible mothering skills in attempting to stop the siblings warring.
While looking for interesting photos of Arch Rock and wanting to enjoy a Pacific coast sunset before having to return to Heartland USA, I worked my way to the shoreline South of Arch Rock when I noticed the Jetty navigation markers were on and one was blinking through the hole in Arch Rock. Shot with a Sony A7R3 using a FE 24-240mm lens zoomed to 46mm at f/13 for 4 seconds with ISO 100.
I have been wanting to go to this cave for a long time, but I have never got the chance. Ok, the cave can be a little hard to find, but it's not all that far, and too tough to get to. However, it's about 2 hours to get here and there is not really that much cave to see. So, every time we talk about going here, the idea dies because it's just too far for such a small site.
Well, the wife and kids are out of town this week, and I know the dog and I can visit two locations (Dee Wright and Skylight) alone that the family has never really wanted to go to. So it's the dog and I cuddling up in the car overnight again for a milky way image. More on that later.
Anything for a photo.
This cave is a very unique cave. The beams are shy and require a very set of circumstances to appear.
First, you need to be there alone, or at least get people out of your frame. I know everyone wants to add romance by thinking this is a secret cave. Nope. The fact is, it's a tourist attraction. I took a day off of work because I have heard this place can get some crowds. Great plan right? Nope. Fail. All of the magic ingredients were right, but the people of Oregon knew that too and it was crowded. I got lucky though and the all the visitors were very respectful of each other, we all made a great team to be sure to get the images we wanted.
Second, you need Summer Solstice. The actual skylights are surrounded by trees, so you need a sun high, and at the right angle to actually shine down into the cave. that only happens for about three months of the year. Turns out the cave is closed all the other months because it is a bat condo during that time of year.
Third, the shy beams only come out for about three hours a day, between 9 and 11, generally. For me that meant leaving the house at about 5am. I needed extra time because many have a hard time finding the cave.
Fourth, you need a cloudless sky to get the sunshine. Marry all those together and that becomes a very, very narrow window of opportunity.
Turns out everything worked out.
I did loads of research on getting to the cave. The OHV trails to the site were not that bad, I saw one guy there in a minivan. Google maps was actually not too wrong this time (a Miricale). The day was bright, no clouds, and late June was just right. I got there at 8am, way too early, but at least I got to scout the area before the narrow photo window. I was worried that the crowds could be an issue. After all, I had planned to kick up some dust from the cave floor to make the beams stronger. I was worried that this might bug others. Well, self correcting problem, the floor was mud, no dust to be had. I did not need dust, you see those beams?
The main trouble with the shoot itinerary was shooting skylight in the morning and Dee Wright at night, meant there was a lot of time to kill in between. The dog did not mind. He got lots of time playing in the Deschutes River.

I have been wanting to hike to this cave for a few years. I finally made the hike and I plan on going back during a better time to take photos. The hike was fairly easy, but the trail is poorly marked and there are side trails all over the place. After visiting the cave I went exploring and ran into several groups that lost the trail to the cave guided then back to the correct location. The cave itself is large but also popular so don’t expect to have it by yourself. I went with my dog and there are lots of cacti so which she managed to avoided but if you bring your dog or kids be sure to watch out. For this photo I wanted to show clouds streaking by but even with my little stopper I couldn’t get much movement because the air was so still.
