Bis nach Freilassing befördert das Unternehmen smart rail den Neuwagentransport. Hierbei wird meist über die Geislinger Steige gefahren. Dafür ist allerdings eine Doppeltraktion notwendig. Gelegentlich wird aber auch der Weg über die Murrbahn und Treuchtlingen genommen. Dann reicht eine Lok der Baureihe 111 aus. So auch am 11. Mai 2022, als mir die 111 057 mit besagtem Zug bei Vierkirchen vor die Linse fuhr. Im Zugzielanzeiger steht noch "Urlaubs-Express", ein weiterer Einsatzschwerpunkt der 111-er von smart rail.

Then one class 111 locomotive is sufficient. This was also the case on 11th of May 2022, when 111 057 with the aforementioned train passed in front of my lens near Vierkirchen. The train destination indicator still says "Urlaubs-Express" (holiday express), another focus of smart rail's class 111s.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213) was launched in 2016. The Chinese version was launched in the same year and doesn't only have an extended wheelbase, but the side profile is unique for the Chinese (and Indian) E-Class, with a third window similar to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
The Qatari-registration 111123 hasn't been seen in London for a few years, until I managed to spot it last month, on this interesting AMG E 63 S, fitted with a big wing on the rear. I've seen this registration previously on a Mercedes-Maybach S 600 in London, plus it's been spotted on a G 500 4x4 in London too, so I can confirm it's from Qatar. The spec on this car is just amazing I think.

Every time I've been to London recently, I've been lucky enough to spot at least 1 Russian plated car driving around, and on my last trip to London, this was that spot, this E 220d on curiously re-made plates, made to look like 'military-issue' Russian plates. Although non-standard, I think these black plates look really cool, and are more interesting than some re-made Russian plates that I've spotted over the years.
I spotted this E 220d driving around Hyde Park Corner in central-western London. The car was registered to the city of St. Petersburg, located in north-western Russia, and possibly one of the most 'European' influenced Russian cities. I've seldom seen St. Petersburg-registered cars in the UK, most Russians tend to come from the Moscow area instead.

2020 wasn't a great year for spotting Norwegian paltes. It is, however, no surprise to see that this E-Class is a hybrid, given it's coming from Norway.

This Mercedes E-class on diplomatic plates, was driving down Park Lane. The car was registered to the High Commission of Nigeria, located in Westminster. The code for the Nigerian High Commission is easy to remember, particularly for myself, since it can also be read as my birthday date.

Driving around Hyde Park Corner, was this Mercedes E-class, used by the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, based at the Sri Lanka High Commission on the other side of Hyde Park from where I spotted the car. The plate suffix would've been originally registered to the historic Scottish council of Clackmannanshire.

This Mercedes E-class from Norway, was travelling along the A1 autobahn. The car was imported and registered in Norway in November 2018, and was registered to the city of Trondheim, located on the Trondheim fjord in central Norway, about 400km north of Oslo. Quite a distance to travel between Trondheim and the nearby city of Bremen where I spotted the car.

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth-generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Sold from 2016 (as a 2017 model), it is the successor to the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E 63 and E 63 S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.

I've already spotted a Ukrainian E-Class from Kharkiv several times in Düsseldorf and Köln, I feel like this is their new car, although they got different plates.

When embarking on my usual three days drive through France to Spain I actually rarely get the opportunity/time in diecast hunting but this time I did get the opportunity in visiting a Carrefour on the first day. Despite it being late Saturday afternoon and thus expecting the pegs to have been ransacked I was delighted to discover a largely untouched diecast section full of new Majorette. One big bag full later and I came away with some fantastic new releases and recolours all of which came in the newly updated packaging.
Their Mercedes-Benz E-Class All Terrain now comes in a new metallic aqua green colour, its nice to see this casting getting some more attention as its a rather smart replica of a little modelled body variant. Part of their new Showroom sub series it comes complete with working suspension and opening rear hatch.

W213DNO is a Dennis Dart SLF/Plaxton Pointer new to Stagecoach Selkent as their SLD213 in June 2000. On disposal from London it operated for Stagecoach Merseyside as 34213 before joining the Stagecoach Fife fleet. It left Stagecoach in 2014 when it joined the JMB Travel of Newmains fleet and was sold in April 2015 to David Arthur for his DA Coaches fleet in Coatbridge. It is seen here in Airdrie working service X47 (Monklands Hospital-Cumbernauld).

I thought I'd move away from my usual upload schedule, to upload some more 'official'-type plates I was able to spot in Berlin. I tried to capture as many types of plate as possible, including ones used by the Federal Authorities/Police and Regional Authorities.
This car fits the latter, being a Mercedes E-class, a visitor to Berlin from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The car is used by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, based in the state capital, Schwerin, located on the Schweriner Innensee, 180km north-west of Berlin. Regarding the plate, 'MVL' denotes the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern-Land, '4' denoting the Ministry of Internal Affairs for most German states, and the last part is a serial number. Official cars from out of state seem to be a rare occurrence in most German cities.

The new E-Class is quite an awesome car. It looks very Mercedes-like and has the perfect amount of sexyness to stand between the C- and S-Class. Unfortunately, it's 2018 already and you all know new E-Classes. It was, however, quite interesting to spot one from Mogilev this early. I usually get to see newer foreign cars with a delay, except for some cars from Poland.

This plate is actually ambiguous.
While H and E plates can be combined with CD plates, they are technically clashing with the re-issued plates, as these are re-issued from A to Z. So this could, only in theory, be the the 6th plate, or the 5th re-issue of this number.

Usually I wouldn't bother spotting a French E-Class from Paris. But this one is different - as it is a taxi. My first French taxi in Germany. It featured G7 stickers, a taxi operator in France and has several window stickers that probably are all kinds of permits to taxi someone around, but the most obvious feature is the "Taxi"-rack on top. I am very confident this car drove to Germany taxiing someone from France to Düsseldorf, possibly a wealthier Arab.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a range of executive cars manufactured by German automaker Mercedes-Benz in various engine and body configurations. Produced since 1993, the E-Class falls midrange in the Mercedes line-up, and has been marketed worldwide across five generations. Before 1993, the E in Mercedes-Benz nomenclature was a suffix following a vehicle's model number which stood for Einspritzmotor (German for fuel injection engine). It began to appear in the early 1960s, when that feature began to be utilized broadly in the maker's product line, and not just in its upper tier luxury and sporting models. By the launch of the facelifted W124 in 1993 fuel-injection was ubiquitous in Mercedes engines, and the E was adopted as a prefix (i.e., E 220) and the model line referred to officially as the E-Class (or E-Klasse). All generations of the E-Class have offered either rear-wheel drive or Mercedes' 4Matic four-wheel drive system. Historically, the E-Class is Mercedes-Benz' best-selling model, with more than 13 million sold by 2015. The first E-Class series was originally available as four-door sedan, five-door station wagon, 2 door coupe and 2 door convertible. From 1997 to 2009, the equivalent coupe and convertible were sold under the Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class nameplate; which was actually based on the mechanical underpinnings of the smaller C-Class while borrowing the styling and some powertrains from the E-Class, a trend continued with the C207 E-Class coupe/convertible which was sold parallel to the W212 E-Class sedan/wagon. With the latest incarnation of the E-Class released for the 2017 model year, all body styles share the same W213 platform. Due to the E-Class's size and durability, it has filled many market segments, from personal cars to frequently serving as taxis in European countries, as well special-purpose vehicles (e.g., police or ambulance modifications) from the factory. The "E-Class" name first appeared in with the facelifted W124 in 1993 for the model year 1994 (the W124 was introduced in 1984 but continued with the older naming convention until 1993, when all Mercedes-Benz models switched to a new system, e.g. E 320 instead of 300 E). The diesel versions continued to be the fuel economy option over the four and six-cylinder gasoline engines, and the gasoline V8 engines (available after 1992) increased gasoline power outputs further. Four-cylinder gasoline models were not marketed in the United States. The V8 powered sedans/saloons were named 400 E/500 E from 1992–1993, and E 420/E 500 after 1993. Likewise, the 3.0-litre cars (e.g. 300 E) were also re-badged to E 320 with the new 3.2-litre M104 engines and naming rationalization of 1994. For the diesel models the name change was less elegant, with the 250 D becoming the E 250 Diesel for example. Sedan (W124), Coupé (C124), Convertible (A124) and Estate (S124) body configurations were offered. From 1991 to early 1995 Mercedes offered a limited production sport version of the W124 sedan, created and assembled with help from Porsche. This was called the 500 E (E 500 after 1993). The W210 E-Class, launched in 1995, brought the line firmly into the upper end of the mid-size luxury market. In September 1999 the W210 E-class was facelifted. This included visual, mechanical and quality improvements over the earlier versions. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class was Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year for 1996. While the W210 sedan was replaced by the W211 in 2002, the wagon version continued to be sold until March 2003 when the W211 wagon replaced the W210 wagon. Launched in 2002, the W211 E-Class was another evolution of the previous model. The W211-based W219 CLS-Class 4-door coupé was introduced as a niche model in 2005, primarily to attract a younger demographic. The W211 E-Class was facelifted in June 2006 for the 2007 model year to address quality and technical issues raised by earlier models, Sensotronic was dropped, while Pre-Safe (w/o brake support) was made standard. The largest factory built engine in the E-class range is the E500 (badged E550 in the U.S.) which had its engine size increased from 5 litres to 5.5 litres in 2006 along with the facelift. There is also an AMG model badged E63 AMG and other tuning house installations. In 2007 the diesel version of the E-Class was rebadged from CDI (Common rail Direct Injection) to Bluetec. While in some of the other Mercedes-Benz diesels urea injection was added, in the W211 E-Class the Bluetec name was only adopted to prevent confusion in the diesel lineup. The W212 replaced the W211 in 2009 (as a 2010 model). Official photos of the W212 were leaked on the internet on 9 December 2008 ahead of its 2009 Geneva Motor Show unveiling. Scans of a leaked brochure were posted onto the internet in January 2009, detailing the whole E-Class range including the new E 200 CGI and E 230 CGI with direct injected forced inducted engines. New features included a blind spot monitor, Lane Keeping Assist, Pre-safe with Attention Assist and Night View Assist Plus. In the United States the E-Class was priced nearly US$4,600 less than the previous model. The W212 estate was also announced and available from November 2009. In 2013, the E-Class was comprehensively facelifted, featuring significant styling changes, fuel economy improvements and updated safety features. Daimler invested close to €1 billion into the development of the extensive refresh, making it likely the most expensive mid-life facelift in the history of the automobile. The biggest change was the singular front lights replacing the twin headlamp design (marking the end of Mercedes's dual headlamps use) with integrated LED DRLs. Although not an all-new model, the W212 facelift was the only mid-cycle refresh featured on a family portrait of several generations of the E-Class side by side by Mercedes-Benz for the unveiling of the W213 E-Class. The fifth generation E-Class was unveiled at the 2016 North American International Auto Show. The next generation E-Class has design cues from the larger W222 S-Class and the smaller W205 C-Class. While the W212 E-Class has tighter surface and harder edges, the new model is curvier and more flowing.
Engine options for the W213 E-Class will see a major update, thanks to the switch to inline-6 engines from the current V6 engines, along with a new generation of four-cylinder diesel engines, codenamed OM654, and existing four-cylinder petrol engines. The W213 E-Class is the second most technologically advanced Mercedes after the new S Class. The E-Class received the latest in autonomous driving technology for use at highway speeds, capable of piloting itself up to speeds of 130 mph (210 km/h) for up to 2 minutes. The system uses a complex array of motion sensors, radars and cameras to scan the road ahead, and requires the driver's hands to be placed on the wheel at all times.
