Many alike were destined as taxi's and this one definitely was too.
It seemed to be in rough shape suffering from some serious rust, which was more apparent looking at the lower rear. It was sat outside a workshop so hopefully now on the up-and-up.

Back in Portugal, naturally i'm greeted by an American Benz.

That's a Mercedes-Benz W115, a 1973-1976 facelifted model, and it looks immaculate.

chatted with a buddy, I think this is what it is, saw a 2xx diesel badge when it passed the other way, thought 280 but that's not a thing and so most likely a 4 instead of an 8 I think.
These old models of Mercedes were particularly popular with taxi drivers when I visited Beirut in 2004.
The model is either the W114 or W115 which was manufactured from the late 1960s to mid 1970s.
The architecture looks like it may date from the French Mandate period when Lebanon was ruled by France.
