Als am 22. April 2003 die Hagener 218 247 und der VW T2 in Velbert-Langenberg zusammentrafen, wurden sie noch gebraucht. 2006 wurde die 1973 von Krauss-Maffei gebaute Diesellok abgestellt und vier Jahre später verschrottet. Auch der VW Bulli hat seinem Fahrer noch einige Zeit treue Dienste geleistet.
Still too good for the bin…
When the Hagen-based locomotive 218 247 and the VW T2 met in Velbert-Langenberg on April 22, 2003, both were still in active service. The diesel locomotive—built by Krauss-Maffei in 1973—was taken out of service in 2006 and scrapped four years later. The VW van, too, continued to serve its driver faithfully for some time.

A new equipment has right arrived in the Oldtimer VW Garage: the car lifter. Now it's easier to check the Vee Dub.

When I entered this industrial area I saw some ten VW T2 vans gathered in two streets. It were rental vans and were loaded on trailers just when I arrived.

Poor rests of a world famous VW Transporter van. The in 1967 introduced version was remodeled. It still had the small T1 rear lamp units, which would be replaced by bigger ones in 1972.
Note the pakkage of green moss sticking on the roof.

Found on the iconic Båstnäs junk yard, which is extraordinary. As far as I know there's no second place like this in Europe right now.
Båstnäs is not an ordinary scrap yard, it's a real Grave Yard. It consists of about 800 Cars from about 1940s till the early 1970s.
In the heydays there were even 2000 cars but a lot of them have been cleared years ago. Happily volunteers try to preserve the place as it is right now. That means that visitors are asked not to damage the cars and not to take anything away.
That makes this unique place not a scrap yard but a monumental Grave Yard, a hommage to automotive achievements, a nostalgic place to worship classic design & technics.
I took some 800 pictures, which I will post now and then between other series.
