Despite its Italian origins, the Vespa 400 was a microcar manufactured in France. The two cylinder two stroke air cooled rear engine could take it to a maximum speed of 90 km/h. It had a large canvas top folding down to avoid claustrophobia. Nearly 31.000 units were sold between 1957 and 1961, almost all on the French market.
Yellow headlights were mandatory in France until the early 1990s.
