Walking from tal-Virtu towards Zebbug. Little did we notice that the clouds gathering in the foreground were to give a night of rain.
I distinctly remember not liking this place, in its muted darkness and sharp rays of light piercing the floor here and there. And I remember processing it many moons later, seeing its beauty unfolding before my eyes for the first time - the torn wallpapers, the piano, the heavy curtains, the riches that once were.

Just back from an 11 day UE tour across Europe with mANVIL, tehtks, and deltablackmsb.
3000 miles and 30 locations later, we return with memory cards full of gold. A huge thank you to all of our good friends who helped in some way to make this a huge success. La virtù non conduce ad altro che all'inazione più stupida e più monotona, il vizio a tutto ciò che l'uomo può sperare di più delizioso sulla terra.
Una vecchia fiaba tedesca racconta che per salvare il suo innamorato una principessa fu costretta a filare diecimila matasse di filo in un mese. Ma non ce l'avrebbe mai fatta se non fosse stata aiutata dai suoi gatti. Così, per ricompensarli, la principessa fece dono ai suoi piccoli amici delle fusa, cioè del suono prodotto dai fusi del filatoio quando girano.
Quel che è certo, è che le fusa hanno un effetto sorprendente sulle persone.
E sono una vera e propria forma di comunicazione ♥

A small tile (on which I have been working for a while with The Gimp) for my Florence mosaic, compatibly with my being very busy :-(
Not very happy with this picture, admittedly, though it would be hard to tell why - but, I thought, this could be a good reason to post it and get some feedback. So here it is.
This is one of the two bronze holy water fonts by Francesco Susini (1615) attached to one of the columns in the Chiostrino dei Voti, Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata (Basilica of the Most Holy Annunciation) in Florence.
In the background, one of the frescoes in the lunettes of the cloister, the most ancient one, a Nativity by Alessio Baldovinetti (1460). The Latin motto "Virtus ex alto" means "Virtue comes from the Heaven (i.e. from God)".
The last in a series of seven.
Each portrait in this series was staged to show a different aspect of Aristotle’s ethics. Seven virtues are represented, and each portrays the mean between two extremes – an excess and a defect, otherwise known as "The Golden Mean."
