Sunset in Death Valley. At Harmony Borax Works.
This shot was an afterthought. I had been shooting toward the East where the sun illuminated the golden colored mountians. But all the shots were much too crowded. So I headed down a hill to cap this one.
It represents the 20 mule team wagon traveling from the North East out of the sunset. Nevertheless, I considered this visit a RECON mission of Death Valley, as I would return over a year later to get some night time lapse of this shot..

Squeaky swings and tall grass
The longest shadows ever cast
The water's warm and children swim
And we frolicked about in our summer skin
I don't recall a single care
Just greenery and humid air
Then Labor day came and went
And we shed what was left of our summer skin
On the night you left I came over
And we peeled the freckles from our shoulders
Our brand new coats so flushed and pink

Gator in the Myakka River performing a mating ritual.
Throughout the year, but particularly during the breeding season, alligators bellow to declare territory and locate suitable mates. They issue a sound from their lungs that is too low to be heard. This infrasound causes him to vibrate violently and whips the water on his back into a froth of waves and leaping fountains.

Another of the pictures during our session. The baby was posing inside a basket covered with blankets and we used the sun as a back light. Off-camera flash on the side, handheld with my 85mm.
