My family name - Schiepek - comes from the Czech language and means in english 'rose hip' (the fruit from the 'wild brier' [in German the same is different too, nothing with 'rose'.. and just found the engl. translation today]). Exciting, I know... and if I would have had the choice, I would have taken at least 'strawberry' or 'raspberry'. Ah, no! The good thing about the name is that nobody at school could make fun of it, alone already because nobody here knew its actual meaning...

For those of you who celebrated Christmas I do hope you all had a good time. My poor Dylan has had tonsillitis on Christmas day and had to visit the Doctor this morning and he is now on antibiotics and painkillers – Dylan bought me the DVD of ‘It’s a wonderful life’ as one of my Christmas presents and we watched it this afternoon. He had never seen it before and I had not seen it in years – so we sat just the two of us in the living room with the flames from the fire glowing through the room and both of us cuddled up on the settee with a nice blanket over us and he soon forgot he was not feeling well. It was the best medicine.
