He is still getting used to seeing my camera, so I thought if I just sat there, he wouldn't mind too much. He was busy playing with his peg.
The name Kerlingarfjöll means "Old Woman Mountains" in English, due to the distinct shape of the peaks. The range is made up of several volcanic cones and domes, with the highest peak reaching over 1,477 meters in elevation. One of the main attractions of Kerlingarfjöll is its geothermal area: hot springs, fumaroles, and colorful mineral deposits. The geothermal activity creates a surreal and otherworldly atmosphere, with steam rising from the ground and vibrant hues of red, yellow, and green contrasting against the barren landscape.

Weir type Stoney, next Volmolen and Koppelpoort, dating from 1910 and regulates the flow of water from the East Buitensingel the river Eem. In 2011 Stoney Weir has been restored.
The Koppelpoort, part of the second city wall (1380-1451), was completed in 1427. It is a combined land and water gate where the water from the city of Amersfoort flows into the river Eem.
