A different version for you to see the artist's technique: he ripped off the building's paint to make it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vhils
There is a single well-known Vhils piece by the Aveiro railway station: a large chiselled face carved into a wall directly opposite (in front of) the station, on the side of a nearby building. (Perplexity)
1) «The Companhia União Fabril (CUF) was one of the largest and oldest Portuguese business conglomerates. It first acquired a powerful position through the fruits of the Portuguese colonial empire. Subsequently, it grew into a major conglomerate from the 1930s to 1974. Throughout this period, CUF was at the forefront of the economy of Portuguese Guinea. It later became a chemical corporation which was by then a part of Grupo José de Mello founded in 1988. After many acquisitions, mergers and divestitures, from the late 1970s to the 2010s, the company known as CUF and its brand was gradually restructured and morphed into a brand-new hospital in Lisbon. Now the brand cuf, whose major shareholders and founders are heirs of the old CUF conglomerate, is tied to one of the major healthcare providers of Portugal known as cuf saúde with several hospitals and clinics across the country and formerly known as José de Melo Saúde, a healthcare provider which is a division of Grupo José de Mello. The chemical industry businesses were consolidated in 2018 into a new brand and company called Bondalti which was established within the Grupo José de Mello.» – Wikipedia ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Companhia_Uni%C3%A3o_Fabril )
2) «Vhils (Alexandre Farto, 1987) has been developing a very unique visual language, starting out from the more illegal and interventive side of graffiti, working the removal of surface layers of walls, objects and other, non-conventional media, which aim symbolically to establish a relation of continuity between cultural and social disparities.
He has exhibited in galleries and participated in events in a wide range of countries, and has taken part in some of the most renowned contemporary urban art projects.
“Scratching the Surface”, is one of his projects. Using construction tools, he exposes and confronts the architectural surfaces as they narrate the story of the graphic and of the city itself. Etching acid and bleach, he begins to depict the canvas to be de-constructed. Then with the use of hammers, chisels and pneumatic drills, he sculpts the stenciled pieces to create texture, dimension and layers.» – Center of Portugal ( www.centerofportugal.com/pt/poi/alexandre-farto-aka-vhils... )
In this particular case, when this artwork was installed, the building (of CUF/Quimigal) was vacant. Meanwhile, a Real Estate developer acquired the property to construct a luxury residential building, maintaining and restoring the existing facade in order to preserve and integrate this artwork into the new construction.
This collaboration blends two distinctive styles: Pixel Pancho's steampunk and Vhils' erosional sculpting. Under-Dogs.net supports an open-air art gallery, with murals decorating many buildings all over town. This one, at Avenida Infante Dom Henrique 30F, has three, as you will see in the next two posts.

Graffiti with a portrait of the hero of the Heavenly Hundred Sergei Nigoyan appeared in the center of Kyiv
The author of the graffiti is Alexander Farto, an artist from Lisbon, known under the pseudonym Vhils.
Serhiy Nigoyan was an Armenian-Ukrainian Euromaidan activist who became one of the first killed during the Revolution of Dignity in Kyiv in January 2014. He died on January 22, 2014 after being mortally wounded. He was twenty years old.
Filming the project "There are people" to the 200th Anniversary of Shevchenko, producers managed to record video footage of Nigoyan reciting a fragment of Shevchenko's poem "The Caucasus".
І вам слава, сині гори,
Кригою окуті.
І вам, лицарі великі,
Богом не забуті.
Борітеся — поборете,
Вам Бог помагає!
За вас правда, за вас слава,
І воля святая!
And glory, mountains blue, to you,
In ageless ice encased!
And glory, freedom’s knights, to you,
Whom God will not forsake.
Keep fighting — you are sure to win!
God helps you in your fight!
For fame and freedom march with you,
And right is on your side!

Created for HandHeld Art's November contest: STREET ART.
This eye is a section of a much larger piece of wall art that I shot in Venice Beach, CA. The face is chiseled into cement that coats a brick wall. The amazing artist is Vhils and you can view the entire original HERE. It's number 5 on the list.
Created entirely on the iPad using Leonardo and iColorama. There is a second photo (a fractal) blended into the eye plus other color and effect filters.

Alexandre Farto aka Vhils is a Portuguese artist, known for his striking huge murals. He uses a bas-relief carving technique, which involves using chisels and even hammer drills to scrape away at the fabric of the wall, revealing the history in the layers below the surface.

CENTQUATRE#104PARIS, artist Alexandre Farto aka Vhils.
Vhils is an unusual street artist, as his work is chiseled in the walls. Based in London, the portuguese Alexandre Farto was commisioned by Embassy of Portugal in Thailand to create this long mural (Feb 2017), which pays homage to Bangkok and historic ties between Thailand and Portugal.
The embassy is in Charoen Krung district by the Chao Phraya river. The area is home to many murals. Vhils mural is part of his project 'Scratching the Surface'.
