RELIGIOUS MANTIDE WITH AUTUMN COLOR
Mantis (Mantis religiosa), owes its name to the position in which it holds the front legs
(when hunting it remains motionless with its paws joined).
The Mantis is a beautiful insect of considerable size (it can reach 75 mm in length),
varying in color from light green to brown.
It has a very mobile head, triangular in shape with a vertex facing down,
where is the mouth and two short filiform antennae located on the opposite side, between large eyes.
In nature, they feed on other insects such as flies, moths and crickets, but also on tiny amphibians or reptiles. They are best known for their chameleon-like ability to blend into the leaves: this is how they await their prey.

Another image from my photo shoot as Johnson Lake at sunrise a few weeks ago. Instead of focusing on Cascade Mountain who was visibly soaking up the sun's morning rays at the other end of the lake, I turned to see Mt. Rundle catching some nice light. It's angle to the sun made only it's rocky vertices ignite with orange light, but it made for some cool contrasts. The black trees up front are a bit more concentrated than I wanted, but that was because I was down at the far end of the lake where all the trees are. Maybe next time I'll head up the hills side to find a neat composition while allowing Rundle to show off itself without being blocked by any trees. :) Thanks for looking! I'd love to hear what you think of it or what I could've done to make it better.
