Working at Place public Canape Vért with local artists and various children who joined in. I worked with Karim Bléus artist and sign painter and Tessa Mars translated my text into creole. In Engish it read:
When he was a child, his father would remind him that some people were “ livers” but that “people like us” had to work. As he ate, and ate, and ate, he became worried that he would become insatiable; always eating more, but never tasting. So he swallowed more and more again. He constantly felt hungry - hungrier than those who had nothing to eat.
In French:
“Quand il était enfant, son père lui rappelait qu’il y avait les gens qui ‘vivaient”, mais que les gens “comme nous” devaient
travailler. Lorsqu’il mangeait et mangeait et mangeait encore, il devint de plus en plus inquiet qu’il deviendra insatiable;
de ce fait, il continua à manger sans gouter. Alors il avalait de plus en plus. Il avait faim constamment; il avait encore plus faim que ceux qui n’avaient rien à manger.”
