My son wanted me to make a bird for him. We were looking at a photo of Bernie Peyton's owls at the time, so I was influenced by the look of his design. After doing the first quick and dirty version for my son, I realized the design had potential, so I worked at refining it.
The name comes from a washi-producing area near Tokyo in Japan. I visited the area while on a sightseeing tour organized by Yamaguchi Makoto in 2004. The name of the place means "little bird". The pronunciation is unusual, so the name stuck in my head.

found this piece of pallet wood and got to thinking again on how to do self portraits without photographing my physical self. still haven't really figured it out.
This house with an extra house behind it looks fantastic inside, and it is located in one of the most desirable areas in Olympia (nevermind that the map to the right says Tumwater) just 1½ blocks from Olympia High School and walkable to Safeway, Spud's, Vic's Pizza, and Olympia Coffee, forested hiking trails of Trillium Park and Watershed Park, and two of the most useful buslines. 3437 total square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms in the main house and 1 in the back. It was listed about six weeks ago for $750,000 and reduced to $525,000 a few weeks later before suddenly being taken off the market (not pending but de-listed) in the last day or two.
I think $1000 pays a gardener to remove that giant overgrown planting and replaces it with burlap and bark. Add even just a few lavenders from Lowe's garden area and some basicbitch flowers and bunchgrass tribbles for $100. This house gets sold for much closer to the original asking price even in this rapidly cooling market. A total no-brainer.
