“Ben Venue” (2392ft) may be small in stature but it is a mountain of real character the finest in the Trossachs when seen across Loch Achray. The ascent is a great walk with both boggy and rocky ground higher up, and stunning views from the summit over Loch Katrine and Loch Venachar. Sitting right at the bottom of the mountain if you look closely is the“Loch Achray Hotel” owned by Lochs and Glens Holidays and it makes a great base to explore all that the Trossachs area of Scotland has to offer.

Foro Romano - Roma - Italia / Roman Forum - Rome - Italy

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Foro Romano

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Roman Forum
The Roman Forum, also known by its Latin name Forum Romanum (Italian: Foro Romano), is a rectangular forum (plaza) surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome. Citizens of the ancient city referred to this space, originally a marketplace, as the Forum Magnum, or simply the Forum.
For centuries the Forum was the center of day-to-day life in Rome: the site of triumphal processions and elections; the venue for public speeches, criminal trials, and gladiatorial matches; and the nucleus of commercial affairs. Here statues and monuments commemorated the city's great men. The teeming heart of ancient Rome, it has been called the most celebrated meeting place in the world, and in all history.Located in the small valley between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, the Forum today is a sprawling ruin of architectural fragments and intermittent archaeological excavations attracting 4.5 million or more sightseers yearly.
Many of the oldest and most important structures of the ancient city were located on or near the Forum. The Roman Kingdom's earliest shrines and temples were located on the southeastern edge. These included the ancient former royal residence, the Regia (8th century BC), and the Temple of Vesta (7th century BC), as well as the surrounding complex of the Vestal Virgins, all of which were rebuilt after the rise of imperial Rome.
Other archaic shrines to the northwest, such as the Umbilicus Urbis and the Vulcanal (Shrine of Vulcan), developed into the Republic's formal Comitium (assembly area). This is where the Senate—as well as Republican government itself—began. The Senate House, government offices, tribunals, temples, memorials and statues gradually cluttered the area.
Over time the archaic Comitium was replaced by the larger adjacent Forum and the focus of judicial activity moved to the new Basilica Aemilia (179 BC). Some 130 years later, Julius Caesar built the Basilica Julia, along with the new Curia Julia, refocusing both the judicial offices and the Senate itself. This new Forum, in what proved to be its final form, then served as a revitalized city square where the people of Rome could gather for commercial, political, judicial and religious pursuits in ever greater numbers.
Eventually much economic and judicial business would transfer away from the Forum Romanum to the larger and more extravagant structures (Trajan's Forum and the Basilica Ulpia) to the north. The reign of Constantine the Great saw the construction of the last major expansion of the Forum complex—the Basilica of Maxentius (312 AD). This returned the political center to the Forum until the fall of the Western Roman Empire almost two centuries later.

The 'hallowed' El Mocambo is open again! The famous venue (since 1948) has almost disappeared from the map, but local millionaire found some spare change and renovated the place in last 6-7 years. Looks OK from outside, but did not see it from inside, yet.

Another venue without any lighting and pushing the camera up to ISO 3200. I really need to get a Sony if I am going to continue shooting in such low light. If there was only a Pentax to Sony E-mount adapter.

The Teatro Reale di San Carlo, is an opera house in Naples, Italy, connected to the Royal Palace and adjacent to the Piazza del Plebiscito. It is the oldest continuously active venue for opera in the world, having opened in 1737, decades before either Milan's La Scala or Venice's La Fenice.
The opera season runs from late January to May, with the ballet season taking place from April to early June. The house once had a seating capacity of 3,285, but has now been reduced to 1,386 seats. Given its size, structure and antiquity, it was the model for theatres that were later built in Europe.

Later on our second day, we walked around Rydal Water. On a bright but breezy day it was difficult to find inspiration at a new venue but then I spotted a nice tree reflected in a patch of calm water. Shooting into the afternoon light was awkward but I liked the scene.

The stadium was originally planned to open in 2014, but that date was delayed, due to local protests. It eventually opened in October 2017, although Racing 92 did not play their first home game in the new stadium, until they hosted Toulouse, on 22 December 2017. The venue was originally planned to have a retractable roof, but it was ultimately built with a fixed roof instead.

A friend came visiting from Mexico. We drove over the Sonora Pass, a mountain pass in the Sierra Nevada in California. On the other side of the mountain we stopped for coffee in Bridgeport. I noticed a barn next door with an oversized flag. A man waved at me when I took a photo. I hopped over the fence to talk to the person, who happens to be the owner of this place -- a wedding venue. He said it's fully booked on weekends in summer.
I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a realistic HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
